4. When did Monkeyman die?

I guess those of us who aren't here every day really miss a lot.

I remember back when he lost his wife.. but I didn't know we had lost him too?

5. Broken Heart?
Didn't he lose his wife not too long ago?

This is so utterly saddening. RIP, Monkeyman

6. His wife died a short while ago.
Males tend to die shortly after their wives. My G'pa was 4 months, I know of few males who survived more than a year or two after a life partner died.

Whatever is weakest in them seems to get worse and worse.

10. I followed the Monkeyman story - and the death of his wife saddened me.
I think it's possible that this man died of a broken heart.
I've never had someone to love as much as he did his wife.
I wish I did.
I hope that I will.

12. People do die of broken hearts
In December of 1999, my beloved sister-in-law died of a viral pneumonia. She was only 42. My brother, 12 years younger than me, was devastated. He lived in another state, and I flew out to spend some time with him, to try to ease his grief. In August of 2000, the police showed up at my door to tell me that my adored brother was found dead of a heart attack by close friends. He was 45.

My brother did not smoke or drink to excess, ate healthy foods, and worked out regularly. He and my sister-in-law had no children nor wanted them. They were a whole world unto themselves. Our mother died when she was 42, and my brother only 8. He kept telling me over and over that the two women he loved most in life, besides me, were our mother, and his wife. Nobody can ever convince me that he died of anything but a broken heart.

When his wife died, my brother had her ashes sent to England to be buried at her mother's graveside. When he died, we had him cremated, as well, and his ashes sent to England, to be buried next to his cherished wife's. So, to me, Monkeyman dying after losing his wife is something I understand, and believe can be a blessing. Not to his loved ones, I guess, but to him, and that's all that counts.

13. I was curious about this too- the message of his wife's passing was...
....hearbreaking to read. To think he passed so quickly after- it's terrible for us but they're together now.

16. Good question. R. Hanafin's announcement said he was killed.
"Let this Mustang be bold enough to tell those who helped kill Dale two things." I don't know what he means. Was he really killed? As in murdered? Or does he mean figuratively? Or maybe something else, even?

It's in the post here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1065355

Anybody know anymore? I'd especially hate to think someone actually killed him.

17. No, I think it's sort of insinuating SUICIDE(?). If he'd been killed...
...I'd expect DU's frontpage would be plastered with stories about it. Poor guy...God, I can't say I would have done things differently in his shoes- but it's a terrible, terrible alternative as he brought so much hope and light to so many.
