DETROIT
Clinton aims to get labor in her corner
She'll hold town-hall meeting at union site

U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will court the labor vote Saturday in her first visit to Michigan since becoming a candidate for president.

The AFL-CIO gave the top seven Democratic presidential candidates a list of 15 cities to choose from for town-hall meetings leading up to the labor organization's endorsement later this year.

Clinton, D-N.Y., chose Detroit, a city with a huge labor presence fed by the auto industry. About 900 union members are expected to attend the by-invitation-only event at 10 a.m. at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union hall in Detroit.

While the AFL-CIO endorsement helps, the strength of the union's organization is even more essential for a candidate. More than 205,000 AFL-CIO volunteers made 30 million campaign phone calls on behalf of Democratic candidates and knocked on 8.2 million doors before the 2006 elections, which turned into a Democratic landslide.

1. If Hillary wants to win over labor, then she better make certain...........
the NEXT immigration bill does not provide amnesty for a replacement low wage workforce for the corporate criminals. Hillary can't have it BOTH ways.

3. Immigration is a red herring...
She needs a real plan for solving our job drain to India and other points East and South. The big question is how do we get Corporate America to stop screwing the working class and start showing some patriotism.

10. Is Hillary going to join Kucinich in calling for repeal of NAFTA and CAFTA?
Just curious as to what she is going to do about all of our jobs going overseas, while cheap labour keeps flooding across the border from Mexico.

11. The issue you have described SHOULD BE one of the TOP 3 issues..........
for the Democratic Presidential Candidate. We must ramp up the efforts to make certain the American voters and workers take priority over the traitorous american corporations.

8. Unions Know Which Side of Their Political Bread Is Buttered
and the last thing they need is a woman scorned, in the unlikely but not impossible event that Hillary is permitted to occupy the Oval Office....

13. The only scorned women are the ones that saw their factories closed by NAFTA
and experienced first hand the Clinton betrayal of the working class. Hillary may be loved by upwardly mobile white women and misguided feminists, but to the average working class woman (or man), she is no friend of ours.

9. Have a union friend who would speak no ones name save Hillary
He is now 100% Edwards. Hillary is losing if not already lost the unions.
