it occurred to me the other day that what al would really like is to be veep again. this could give him enough power to tackle the issues that he cares about. hell, following in the footsteps of dick cheney, it's as good as being pres, maybe better. he would have a lot more freedom to tackle what he wants to tackle, without being bogged down by the rest. lets hope that if he doesn't jump into the race, whoever does get the nod has the sense to put him on the ticket.

3. i know he does not want to run. |

but i know he is the only one that can help us now. if he is happier in the back seat, that is fine by me. i do suspect that his sense of duty will get to him. he knows that we need him. i told him so when he signed my book!

and a few other things that he feels very passionate about. he has a great bully pulpit, but nothing beats being in the white house. he does not want to run for pres, and i do not blame him. but maybe he would split the difference, and be the xeep again.

12. because he would have |
|
most of the power, with half of the grief. i do not think he has the drive for power that would make him unhappy as second fiddle. he doesn't need the glory. he just wants to fix things. and from there, he could. if dick cheney can run a war, al could educate the people, both of this country, and the world.

but he does not want to run. i do think that in the end he will, actually. not for himself but out of duty. which i think he feels very strongly.

If you believe that if Hillary were to get the nomination, she would even spend 1 second considering Al Gore for VP, then I've got a bridge to sell you.
He would want to be President, or nothing.

14. well that's a big if. a really big if. |

my personal opinion is the hill does not have a snowball's chance. but if she did, and she thought the al as veep would help her win, then yes i do think she would. i agree she wouldn't want to share the stage with him. but if she thought it was her only hope, she would. in a heartbeat. but i do think you are wrong about al's desire to be pres. i honestly do not think he wants it for himself. if he runs, it will be because he want the tools to fix the mess we are in. and because so many of us want him. i do not think he has that kind of ego.

13. Question for constitutional scholars: Would it be legal? |

Does the Twentysecond Amendment (you know, the one right wingers put in there to punish Franklin Roosevelt supporters) allow for a Vice President to serve more than two terms?

it speaks only to the presidency.
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once
