my SO just posed an interesting question I'd like to ask here of fellow DUers
he just finished Lou Dobbs book and at the end it says that fast-track status is up for renewal in July 07 is this so? and if it is why are we not hearing a campaign to kill it? The only place we've heard of this is in this book. Why?
:wtf:

1. Throw the question back to Lou Dobbs ...
why hasn't HE covered it? He's has his own national show.

5. I think they mean legislative fast track
That is, the President can propose trade agreements that are then sent to Congress and must be immediately referred to committee, which must vote within 45 days, and neither in committee nor on the floor can the trade agreement be amended.

It's set to expire this summer; the Democrats don't have a Big Dog to twist their arms into supporting it so they probably won't, and my sense is the Republicans taste the same blood in the water about "free" trade that they do about immigration so they're going to bolt too.

3. BUSH: I would suggest moving back. I'm about to crank this sucker up.
LISA SYLVESTER, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice over): President Bush at the wheel of a Caterpillar tractor. He used the Peoria, Illinois, plant to drive home his trade agenda. The White House wants Congress to renew Fast Track Authority, which it has used to push through a record 13 new trade agreements with other countries.

4. As if Bush* cares one way or another, he will fast track anything he wants
and Congress can go suck a lemon. It is the way he is and has operated from day one..Is there any doubt at all that Congress will grant Bush* "fast track" authority? Remember the Democratic battle cry "The votes aren't there"

They were debating this. The Dems were against and the Pukes were whining about the Dems naming Post Offices.
Those are some freaky, pathetic people.
