I just voted in the Republican primary. No Democrats are even in the race as far as I have heard-none were even on the ballot. Western Henrico (NOT to be confused with Eastern Henrico ;-) ) is heavy heavy Republican base.

Two things about actually voting:
1. ID is required-to "keep out the riff raff" as the volunteer told me. I didn't feel like getting into it with an old lady so early this morning.
2. touch screen machine

Walter Stosch is the GOP majority leader in the State Senate so anything I can do to help upset THAT applecart has to be a good thing. As the summary below says he must have a lot of money in his campaign because he has been running ads nonstop for months-we don't usually see this kind of ad campaign around these parts.



So I voted for Joe Blackburn(short summary at link). Why? because he knocked on my door and shook my hand and asked for my vote in a race that I am clearly not represented in anyway and because there is nothing better than doing my part to stoke the fire of a good old internal party tussle. :evilgrin:

Blackburn's site -when I saw this guy on my front porch I thought he looked a bit like a Tom Tomorrow cartoon character....nah he was just a Republican.

Sen. Stosch Senate Majority Leader Walter Stosch takes this challenge from the anti-tax wing of his party very seriously - as well he should. Blackburn, a Richmond attorney, had a very successful and well-attended campaign kickoff late in 2006. Meanwhile, the Henrico County GOP elected Blackburn's choice for local chairman, Sheriff Mike Wade, essentially delivering control of the local party apparatus to Blackburn. Stosch backed the opposition, losing in his home base of Henrico County, which comprises nearly the entire senate district. Blackburn has enlisted key advisors to former Governor Jim Gilmore to assist his effort, and he claims the endorsement of VCAP, the Virginia Conservative Action PAC.

Stosch, among the strongest business allies in the General Assembly, has amassed a formidable war chest, but the key to victory in a June primary has little to do with money. It's all about getting your supporters to the polls. Stosch has represented suburban Henrico County since 1983 and is rallying a strong base of support. Pundits predict a Stosch victory, but anything can happen in a legislative primary in June - especially with a sharply divided GOP. Blackburn poses a serious challenge.

2. I do that a lot.

My county is so heavily Republican that there is never more than one candidate for local races in the Democratic primary. Most of the time there aren't any Democratic candidates. So I go vote in the GOP primary, usually for whoever is running against the incumbent. Texas doesn't require you to pick a party when you register, but they do track which primary you vote in, so technically I guess that makes me a Republican voter right now. Ew.

3. When in Texas I proudly voted for John McCain

in the primary. :evilgrin: Anything to chew at the support of GWB. Oh, and I actually recall thinking what a raw deal he got in SC at the hands of Turdblossom's tactics.

4. I love how the anti-tax folks

are anti-constitution. I guess the 2nd amendment is the only good one as far as the right seems to think.
