ME-Sen: The 51st Democratic Senator

This fall, Congress will likely be voting on legislation which will determine our future military role in Iraq. The American people spoke loud and clear last November - they want an end to our military involvement there, they want us to move to a political and diplomatic solution, and they don't want to wait until our next President is elected to see it.

<…>

Tom is challenging Sen. Susan Collins in the race for Senate in Maine next year. This month, Sen. Lieberman is holding a fundraiser for his Republican opponent, who, like Joe, has constantly voted the wrong way for the past four and a half years of this war. Let's team up to help Rep. Allen outraise them.

<…>

Sen. Collins is facing a decision this fall, having up until now voted consistently in favor of failed policies on Iraq. Sen. Lieberman is helping her out because he expects her to continue to vote this way. Tom Allen - and the voters of Maine - want this war to end. The contrast is clear.

While Sen. Lieberman works to keep the Democratic margin in the Senate as slim as possible, please join me in helping to elect Tom Allen as our 51st Democratic senator in 2008.

1. By every test of logic, Maine should be sending two Democrats
to the U.S.Senate. Both Collins and Snowe are anomalies who cast a few liberal votes to earn some credibility as "RINO's" but who basically are part of the Repub establishment. Lieberman again strikes a blow at the Democratic party that gave him his career in the first place. But he knows that the 2008 election will produce enough Democratic Senate victories that he faces marginalization - and high time.

2. Tom Allen will make a terrific Senator!
We're beginning to gear up for this upcoming campaign. I see one less Republican from Maine in the Senate.

The National GOP is pushing Susie. She is (or is about to be) on a national fundraising tour with Lindsay Graham a few other Senators.

This is a targeted race and with help like this Tom will do great!
