11. ARG does a poll once a month, their latest was at the end of May
I like what it says but I'm not sure I have much faith in it.

9. Link to poll (5/23/07)
http://www.strategicvision.biz/political/iowa_poll_052307.htm

"...the results of a three-day poll in the state of Iowa. Results are based on telephone interviews with 600 likely Republican cacus goers and 600 likely Democratic cacus goers, aged 18+, and conducted May 18-20, 2007. The margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points."

It's going to be an interesting ground game in Iowa. That's where the game will truly begin.

(Strategic Vision); Edwards 29%, Obama 23%, Hillary 21%
So could be Clinton 25, Edwards 25, Obama 19.
Or could be Edwards 33. Obama 19, Clinton 17.
Or could be Obama 27, Edwards 25, Clinton 17...

15. We should be able to win with a pile of manure for president.
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 06:08 PM by Gregorian
This whole polls thing is really bothering me. After what this country has been through, we should not even have to lift a finger to win. We should have absolutely zero worry about winning. And I think that if we have to run the gauntlet and play along, then we're in much deeper trouble than we think. We've had criminals breaking every law and doing totally unconstitutional things. And yet we're still looking at polls. I think polls are just another form of spin.

I mean, how could we possibly lose after what this country has been through. That is rhetorical, since the opposition cheats. But in a way it really is a question, since there has never been a worse administration.

Edit- OK, ignore this post. Just pretend I never said any of this. Sometimes I would be better off if I just stepped away from the internets for a while. How embarrassing. :)

23. I would prefer that we do NOT nominate a sack of manure, thank you!
I know some of us would like to believe (and ALL REPUBLICANS would like us to believe...) that we cannot lose in 08. While I agree that 08 SHOULD be ours for the taking, and we have a LOT of advantages going in, I just don't buy the inevitability thing.

For one thing, Bush is not running. All of the Rep candidates are going to be running....as fast as they can from Bush! Then they will present their version of the old Rep themes that have garnered votes in the past.

The Swiftboating theme worked in 04, they will retarget it in 08, the only question is who is gonna be the target.

We will hear lots of appeals that the Dems are soft on terror. There are always the social issues to play on, and the God Bless America theme. They will on the one hand distance themselves from Bush, then hammer at the Dems for the budget deficit. If the Reps are smart they will nominate Hagel who has opposed the War in Iraq but if not, they will at least find some solace if the Dems nominate someone who voted for the IWR. Music to the Republican's ears! If you can't see how the Reps would play this, you simply don't understand politics.

Surprise, surprise....national security will be a primary issue in 08, and we don't have a candidate with a particular strong suit in that issue.

Can we win anyway? YES! The people are pretty fed up with Republicans. But it is going to take effort. And it is going to take the BEST candidate we have to offer.

Over-confidence is the reason the Titanic sunk. The captain knew about the icebergs. Didn't really care. He believed the ship was unsinkable. THAT is why the Titanic sunk.

Like the Titanic, we are sailing a beautiful vessel. But it is not unsinkable. Time to choose the skipper who will steer us in the right direction to get to our destination.

A sack of manure just won't do...

25. That is totally right on.
I'm not even sure why I posted that stuff. Well, it was fatigue.

The spin and tricks have been going on since the first day on earth. And it isn't going to stop because we have a retarded authoritarian whose crime racket gang ruined the country. Although it should, if Americans had brains.

You are right. We all need to stay on top of things. It's sure a waste of time compared to what my perfectionist mind would like to see for the people of this country.

27. Russert on Conan last night said that Obama will peak "right in time"

He's the only MSM person I've heard from in a while that isn't calling the election already. Russert thinks Obama will take the reigns as we near the end of the primary.

As soon as Conan O'Brien's transcript is available for Tuesday evening - 6/12, I'll add it on here.

21. They are OLD polls.
I know that ARG, which is the most recent, actually has Richardson gaining, and Edwards dropping points IN IOWA, and Clinton in the lead. That poll was after a debate and is the most recent.

National polls this week show a similar drop for Edwards, 5-6 points. WSJ Poll and the ARG, both out today, also show a slight drop for Obama. Clinton is steady or rising, and Richardson is steady or rising. Even with MOE, the most recent polls are showing the same or similar trends in a drop in support for Edwards and Obama, and steady/gains for Clinton and Richardson.
