You know I am sick and tired of being labeled as a "Tree Hugger" |
|
just because I care about the environment...
Or all these "green friendly" ads they are running where the spokesperson says something inane like "I'm not a tree hugger..."
Well, I think it's time we Environmentalists started to say, gee there Mr./Ms. Money Grubber, you were so wrong about putting profits over anything else and now you claim that you are a green business...
Don't get me wrong, I am glad that people are finally coming around on environmental issues, but you know, they don't have to cast dispersions on those of us who have been concerned about waste and wasteful business practices that got us into this mess to begin with...
So the next time someone calls me a tree hugger, and they still do, I'm gonna say thanks for the compliment and ad, what took you so long to join us, Money Grubber....

4. And then there is WCGreen.... |
|
The first time I ran for office, we carried these big green buckets around with us and collected all the wasted paper candidates would leave all over the place at these events...
we gathered it and recycled the stuff and people still remember that some 15 years later...

2. Tree hugger is a nice term, IMO. Beats the hell out of "Polluting Slob" which is the |
|
opposite to the term, n'est pas?

6. if by "tree hugger", they mean someone whose work ... |
|
.... helped protect local property values by keeping this area a clean, pleasant place to live ... and made the logging company stop dumping crap in the stream so you can go enjoy catching fish there this weekend ... and forced them to harvest more sustainably and replant so that there would be enough to keep the local mill running and not put hundreds of people out of a job ...
You bet, I'm a tree hugger!

Back when I was a vege"tarian, folks would ask if it was because I loved animals. I'd answer "NO, I just HATE plants!!!"

14. Here's another way to look at it. |
|
All things in moderation. Some environmentalists go overboard, just as many corporation go overboard against the environment.
A saying I heard a while back that makes you look at things differently and explain your environmental position is this. "Profits are personal, but the affects of profit are social". It's why we have pollution laws, minimum wages, etc.
It usually gets the other side to actually start thinking, maybe for 1 minute but hey it's a start!
