Perhaps Edwards pays $400.00 for a haircut because.... |
|
He is a busy man trying to raise boucoup bucks and weighed the cost of hiring someone who would come to him and cut his hair while still working the phones for money was a good investment of his time...
Or, since he is a wealthy man, spending $400.00 on a haircut was not out of the question when it relates to his vast amount of wealth...
Or, this particular stylist, uses platinum scissors to clip his hair and thus guards Edwards against becoming bald at least before the next election...
Anyway, what difference does it make really how much Edwards spent on his haircut or why he spent so much on his haircut...

1. What I've read is that this isn't an unusual price... |
|
But I agree with you....
What difference does it really make? It doesn't!
I care a lot more about his ideas than about his haircuts...

2. I don't support Edwards but, I think it is his business what he pays. no one |
|
should pass judgement on him for it. i don't care if he pays 800 for a haircut, It's his money. Besides, there are alot of politicians who spend more money on corrupt stuff. So, if he wasnts to pay that much, go for it.

and I'm not sure if this is necessarily true, he may have used campaign funds to do so.
That in my opinion, would be a huge disaster. But as I said, that could just be disinformation.
Either way, I'd have to wonder...What the hell is a $400 haircut supposed to be like? Honestly if that was some of day-spa thing with pampering that's one thing, but a haircut? Do you get a year's worth of hair style products along with the hair cut?
As a guy, I feel like I splurge when I pay 20 bucks for a haircut...and I get one every few months...The haircut thing is silly, but I think it rubs people the wrong way.

4. If you really check you'll find out that he has a specific barber he has cut |
|
his hair all the time. The $400 was the cost of the barber's travel to and from where John was at the time plus what ever he pays for the cut. Yes the cost was originally charged to the campaign, but as John stated several times, one of the staffers just paid the bill and it was a mistake. He reimbursed the fund for the bill.
For goodness sake, what's the damn hangup over the cost of his haircut! My guess is that Mittens doesn't pay $20 for his either!!!! The rest of the Pubs dons have enough har to care and Hillary most likely pays MORE for hers simply because women ALWAYS are charged more for their hair care than men!
YES is I sound like this is a thorn in my side, IT IS! Pay what ever you want for someone to cut your hair...your choice! For other people to gripe about it just aggrivates me. Especially when similar scrutiny hasn't been placed on the other 17? candidates.
I don't agree with Rotten Rudy on anything else, but at least he said "I wish I had enough hair to HAVE to pay that much!

6. I'm not one that has really cared how much he paid, but it seems |
|
like a lot of people on here harp about him talking about class and money and populism. Then he goes out and pays more for one hair cut than most men spend on total hair care in a year. If someone wants to pay $400 for a hair cut, by all means, go right ahead and do it. I would like to point out that I would do for only $250 though! :)

17. You'd do it for $250? What if your airfare to get to where he was |
|
cost $300?
I don't know if the barber flew to meet John or not, but something I heard on one news report gave me the feeling it did. The comment was "that $400 included the cost of the barber's transportation to get to where John was, and also compensation for the hair cuts he couldn't do because he was not in his shop." That's not a quote, but the statement was close to that.
My only point is that many people are making judgements without knowing the whole story.

9. I believe he said he was in a hurry and was stunned by the price |
|
but why does it matter?
This person was willing, no surprise for an easy $400 wouldn't you, to come to the hotel at a moments notice to give Edwards a haircut. If Edwards had made an appearance looking shaggy the media would have made a huge stink out of that too - the media is in the hands of republicans and we would be remiss to forget that. With our bickering about this bullshit issue we play right into their hands.

12. The pure gossip I heard is that he paid for it out of campaign money. |
|
and that's why their were so many complaints. Maybe he paid them back or maybe that's not true. However, if he paid for it himself it's no one else's damn business! Never should have made the MSM...but I guess that's easier to cover than his health care plan. Good old dependable MSM...right there on the spot to cover crap. Gee, by the way...I haven't heard yet how Paris Hilton is doing in jail today. :( Gee, MSM is falling down on their most important job...keeping America informed on our public airwaves.

14. I work upstairs from a NYC salon |
|
where $400 per haircut is not unusual. And it's not just millionaires that frequent this salon but affluent professionals too. I pay on average $100 every 2 months to get my hair cut and colored and I'm far from rich. This is a total and complete red herring.

15. The story was that he used campaign funds to pay for it |
|
I don't know whether that was the case or not, but I think that's what fueled the controversy. I couldn't care less what he personally pays for his haircuts, but if I were a campaign contributor it would tick me off to think that my donation went toward that.
On the topic of haircuts, I think that $400. for a men's cut is excessive. I live in Scottsdale where there are some very upscale salons, many that cater to celebrities and wealthy tourists and none of them charge that much. A woman can go to one of the top resorts around here and get a cut and highlights for at least half of what Edwards paid. That being said, my family and I go to Cost cutters. LOL

16. I'm relying on the MSM for its new and improved election reporting. |
|
After all, we news hounds are riveted by their in-depth reports on hair, clothes, personal hygiene, indiscretions, the the all-important charisma factor. I mean, why would we be interested in superficial things like a candidate's intelligence, stand on the issues, and qualifications? Look what that got us last time?
