I can't believe the level to which many Obama and Clinton supporters have sunk
around here. It's amazing to see what happens to some people when the "pick a candidate" and then seem to feel they have to tear the other side down by whatever means necessary. From my non-aligned point of view, both sides are making themselves look like petty and ridiculous schoolchildren.

2. Yup.. but then again..

The bitching, bellyaching, criticizing, griping, groaning, growling, insulting, (and sometimes offensive) slugfests haven't reached the '03 primary battle on here yet.

It's all good in the end though!!

7. Which loser do you support?
Hee hee only Clinton and at a push Obama can win, unless Gore enters the race.
In the same way you are sick of Clinton and Obama supporters cutting up rough with other supporters I am sick of those supporting obvious losers (i.e. Kucinich, Edwards, Dodd etc) disrespecting Obama and especially Clinton.
The ONLY way the Democrats can turn the U.S. round is to defeat the GOP (Thompson etc) and get a Democrat in the White House.
In 2003/04 this and other left of center sites were making such a fuss about Dean and Clark and to a lesser degree Kucinich that support was not given to Kerry and as a result the Democrats looked divided all the way up until the convention.
It is all about winning and whilst I agree that supporters of the top tier candidates should not trash others the supporters of no hopers need to get behind the nominee sooner. Otherwise you might have a repeat of '72 where idealist McGovern got the nomination and went down in flames to Nixon.

13. Edwards has a non-trivial chance of winning, I think.

If I had to put odds on the candidates, I'd give Clinton around 59%, Obama 30%, Edwards 10% and the field 1%.

While Edwards' supporters have been far from polite in some cases, the majority of the bile I've seen being flung has been between the Clinton and Obama camps.

8. There are definate issues to critique on, though. I am still waiting for a candidate to support
I am really unhappy with the choices thus far.

Saying they'll be better than what we have now, isn't saying much.

We need significant change in the very near future. It isn't likely that the current crop will really move us far enough and in the necessary direction.

17. "Saying they'll be better than what we have now, isn't saying much."
And that's basically the thrust of the "top" 3 so far.... and you can see it most clearly with their health care plans.

That's a "safe" and losing strategy- and if things continue as they're going, it's going to keep a LOT of people home (or seeking a 3rd party) in 2008.

Of course, the hue and cry from DU and elsewhere will be "but.but: Republicans are worse," which may be true- yet that generally isn't enough to win elections- and it CERTAINLY isn't going to bring with it any coattails in Congress or the state legislatures.

12. I thought that, changed my mind!
Hated to see Democrats fighting, afraid we were giving ammunition to the Republics. Considering how vicious, mean, unscrupulous, underhanded, swift boating the Republics will be...they take no prisoners (2000/2004).

I was one of those who thought the Hillary supporters were over-bearing and arrogant, but thinking back to the Clinton presidency and the crap she endured, have to say...she is battle tested and ready for the fight!

Which ever Democrat wins the primary, has my vote! Gore/Any Democrat(I can dream/hope).

I'm seeing just as much as Obama supporters, if not more, from them.

or, dare I say, are you an Edwards/Gore/Kucinich supporter trying to pretend that it's only supporters of those two.

Anyway, the 2003-04 primary season was a doozy as well. We all (or most of us) kiss and make up in the end. At least we did last time.

20. It only takes one or two to spoil the productive dialogue,
and I would say that currently the worst offender is an Edwards person.

I realized earlier today what it reminds me of. The story was that Dean had so many canvassers in Iowa calling and knocking on doors that potential supporters actually started getting pissed off because they were getting contacted 5 and 6 times. There is such a thing as overkill, and sometimes there are folks you wish weren't on your side. Kinda like Rex Grossman.

22. Funny, though...
A conversation like this didn't exist 5 mos ago when the Obama supporters were unmercifully tearing Hillary down day in and day out- Now that the shoe is on the other foot, we get righteous indignation from the idol worshipers since they discovered their hero has clay feet!

34. It's not my job to do his job..
no matter his ethnicity, gender, political affiliation, marital status or color..

I'm supporting the best candidate for the job that can pull this country out, as quickly as possible, of the mess we're in.. afaic...Obama isn't ready for prime time, when we're facing a partisan behemoth in the GE. He's made too many unforced errors already and we're not half-way there yet!
