Coming Soon: The Swiftboating of Hillary Clinton
Top of the list of projects is a planned movie, being filmed by veteran Republican operator David Bossie. Bossie is raising money for the film through his conservative group Citizens United, which is appealing for video footage, stories about Clinton and money. It plans a release by the end of the year, just as the first primary elections are held in New Hampshire. Bossie is being helped in the project by Dick Morris, a former top Clinton aide who has become a leading Clinton critic.
...
Citizens United and other Republican groups are set to model their anti-Clinton operation on the notorious Swift Boat campaign that derailed John Kerry's 2004 bid for the White House. That aggressive smear campaign focused on Kerry's Vietnam war record and was seen as critical in President George W Bush's election victory. 'The Swift Boat campaign is going to be a direct model. They have openly come out and said that,' said Terry Krepel, editor of Conwebwatch, a website that monitors the output of conservative news media.
...
Texan businessman Bob Perry has joined Republican Mitt Romney's campaign as a fundraiser. In 2004, Perry gave more than $4m to the Swift Boat campaign.

Vote caging, justice department stacking, swiftboating, lies and whisper campaigns -- they wouldn't bother with this stuff if they thought they could defeat her straight up.

1. IMHO they will Swiftboat any major Dem.
Hillary just has a lot of stuff they can play with. Obama has his "Muslim" schooling that they can run with. Nobody is safe from these assholes.

2. Well, we knew this would happen.
The Dems could nominate Jesus Christ and he'd get the same treatment. And if the candidate -- whoever it is -- has no skeletons in his/her clost, they'll just make shit up.

5. The dems should turn this around this year.
Is there any repuke in the running that can't be swift-boated? If that's they way they want to play, then the dems hav to play too. The problem is, the media will support the repukes in their swift-boating, will they support the dems?

7. The MSM will be a willing tool for the Right (again) which is why
they should be put on the defensive -- declare CNN, Fox and NBC to be illegally contributing airtime to Mitt Romney's presidential bid. Factor all of the time they spend repeating lies at the rate which they charge for advertisements and demand that they declare all of that as campaign contributions to the RNC.

9. On the today show they had
two people on talking about Hillary. Dopey Meredith fed right into them. Dick Morris for christ sakes. What a tool. There attitude was so condescending that it made me sick. Morris should stick to sucking toes.

6. I'm looking forward to the fight!
If they think we're going to stand still like Kerry did, a bump on a log, they've got another thing coming.

The movie? Ha..a joke..it will be a flop..Repukes will get their monies worth if they want to spend $7 bucks to fall asleep.
I hope they step over the line and tabloid the thing, making it sueable.

Otherwise, let them bring it!

11. The media claims swifts 'derailed' Kerry to cover up for BushInc's election fraud
tactics and their refusal to report it before, during and after the election.

Kerry won - and all the maneuverings by the press to blame Kerry were all pure COVER UP that too many Democrats joined.

12. even Kerry says it was a mistake not to respond sooner
but I hear ya on the larger point about Kerry winning Ohio in spite of the Swiftboating. But Swiftboating has impact and sets the stage for theft -- if it wasn't effective, they wouldn't be doing it again.

15. Swifting isn't new it was just given a different name - Impeachmenting, Goreing,
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 12:17 PM by blm
Dixie-Chicked, Dan Rathering all happened before swifting and all involved targeting a Dem or an honest media voice with lies and smears.

Did you see a rapid response to Clintons trashed the WH story from the RW and the media? Did you see rapid response on Clinton let Bin Laden go three times story from RW and the media? No. Because all responses were buried, so there was NEVER ENOUGH response to change the perception until the stories themselves wore out.

Kerry DID respond with the truth in a timely way, and the swifts did NOT effect the outcome of the vote, but the media will tell you it did to cover up for the rampant election fraud BushInc undertook because they knew Kerry was winning.

13. This is not new!
Hillary's strengths have been a threat for years and so "they" have been laying it on strong and deep for years.

Her supporters will not be fooled.
