When is Washington going to face the fact that the amnesty
bill is not workable in any way. We cannot assimilate the millions of illegals here now, in fact we can't even find them. We cannot afford to feed, care for and educate millions more. Our own people are sick and in need of health care and the government won't help find a way to provide it. We need better schools but must educate millions of children who should be the responsibility of their home country.

What never-never land do the politicians live in that they believe the illegals here now will just show wp at some checkpoint, pay $5000.00, go back to Mexico or wherever for a few days and then come back. You know and I know that that is not going to happen.

The time has come for this nation to accept that we cannot be a caretaker and provider for everyone else. We need to stop the illegals at the border and force them back. We need to find those people that are here now and assess whether they are providing a necessary job or are placing a drain on our economy. Lets face it, not all that appear here are working. Many are here because they can avail themselves of things not available in their home country.

It is not our job to provide all things to all people. We need to pay Americans a fair wage so that we don't always have to hear the tired old phrase "they do the jobs that no American will do" I think that is a load of baloney. Pay our citizens fairly and they will do the job. We can generate those monies by readjusting the unbalanced tax code and put clamps on the corporatocracy that controls everything that happens in the business world. Put a cap on golden parachutes, multi-billion quarterly oil company profits, huge drug profits, no bid contracts...the list goes on and on.

End this foolish and illegal war. Put the money into health care for American citizens, new schools with more teachers. We need roads and bridges, better energy sources, environmental protections.

I never thought I'd have so much to complain about but I don't think I'm out of line in stating that we are in trouble and cannot afford to make another colossal mistake with this bill. When it all goes wrong, it is too late to say "we shouldn't have"

1. Trouble is, no one will take a stand, a definitive stand, choose and be the scapegoat for some group.
I agree with your post. I am well aware by virtue of my occupation what the needs are of our own people, children in particular. I am also aware, again b/c of my occupation, of what the hazards are for immigrants and illegal immigrants.

That said, my spouse and I are part of the unhappy middle class. We pay more than a fair tax. We pay a significant portion of our health care. We pay for our sons college education in full. No cuts for low income, immigrant status or for any other reason.

We are responsible but we are maxed out. And nobody seems to get it. The class of people who responsibly contribute to this society are totally maxed out. New cars? Forget it. Vacations? Not in three years and even then, our vacations were nothing remarkable. Savings? All ear marked for college and retirement. 40 hour work week? We work 45-55 hours weekly. Big bucks in housing? Hardly.

So I'm not sorry to say, go home. Go home and make your country the envy of the world. Go home.

2. Good post, now why is it that Democratic Senators feel that this
bill is a good deal? I just don't understand what they can't understand about the need to fix the borders to prevent increased illegal crossings! The Borders need to be secured before any talk of what to do with anyone that is in the country illegally.... It's not rocket science...
