Obama visits Pittsburgh

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is good medicine for America, one of his supporters said today as the Illinois Democrat made a quick stop in Pittsburgh to raise campaign cash.
Khari Mosley, 31, of the North Side, the 22nd Ward Democratic chairman, said he's backing Obama instead of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton -- the front-runner among about eight candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in 2008 -- because Obama "brings a sense of excitement."

"I think Hillary very much represents the establishment. She's been there before," Mosley said. "I think Barack really brings something new. I think he's our best medicine for the cynicism and skepticism that we have in this country about politics."

Declaring that Americans "are hungry for change," Obama today visited the Rivers Club at One Oxford Center, Downtown, to raise money and recruit leaders for his Western Pennsylvania organization. Tickets for the event, which was closed to the press, ranged from $500 to $2,300. It was Obama's first visit to the region since announcing he was running for president.
