14 More US Troops Killed in Iraq -- 3,545... Are we through surging yet?
U.S. military says 14 U.S. troops killed

By HAMID AHMED, Associated Press Writer 1 minute ago

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military announced the deaths of 14 American troops, including five killed Thursday in a single roadside bombing that also killed four Iraqis in Baghdad.

Elsewhere in Iraq, a suicide truck bomber struck the Sulaiman Bek city hall in a predominantly Sunni area in northern Iraq, killing at least 13 people and wounding 70, an Iraqi commander said.

The U.S. deaths raised to at least 3,545 the number of U.S. troops who have died since the war began in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

The deadliest attack was a roadside bomb that struck a convoy in northeastern Baghdad on Thursday, killing five U.S. soldiers, three Iraqi civilians and one Iraqi interpreter, the military said.

Of course, as rightwingers like O'Reilly tell us, it's "meaningless."

And, when we see more casualties, it's because of the surge -- more troops, more deaths.
But when it's pointed out the whole thing remains fubar, it's because "the surge is only now beginning, the troops are still arriving."

What's the PLAN?!?

2. A "surge" without end. Last Sunday Petraeus said that the surge
would NOT be ended in September. It's a game with movable goal posts. They may also change the name from "surge" to "plunge." Another possibility is to call it a "quagmire." My own name for it is "disaster."

I have a suggestion to our Congress. Now that your popularity is at an all-time low, there is an easy way to regain the support and confidence of the public. Cut off the funds. Out NOW.

4. I'm afraid the surge has only just begun.
Now that all 30,000 additional troops are in place,
Gen. Petraeus has put the "surge" into high gear.
