Roll Call:Obama Releases Earmarks, Other White House Candidates Decline to Follow
Obama Releases Earmarks, Other White House Candidates Decline to Follow
Thursday, June 21; 3:00 pm

Presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) decision to release the earmark requests he has submitted this year has been met largely with the sound of crickets from his fellow Congressional candidates for the White House, almost none of whom as of press time had taken up the challenge and released their own.

6. All Members of Congress should be required by law to post earmarks online
I saw a story that said the Senate had passed a bill the would require all of Congress to post earmark requests on the web. The House should pass the same bill.

9. well - here's a link
since you didn't bother to post one.

http://mydd.com/story/2007/6/21/194654/376

(I don't know if it's the same place you got your snip for the OP from, since yours is time-stamped 3:00 PM, and this link is 7:46 PM.)

*snip*

At press time, only spokespeople for McCain and Reps. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and Ron Paul (R-Texas) had responded to a request for comment from Roll Call. Spokespersons for Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), as well as Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) had not returned calls for comment.

A spokeswoman for Kucinich said he would not make his requests public and would only announce those earmarks approved by the Appropriations Committee.

"We don't make those public until they've been accepted," the spokeswoman said.

*snip*

Since I'm supporting Mr Kucinich, I posted the response from his office, and also included theother candidates who had responded, in order to clarify the "...almost none of whom as of press time had taken up the challenge..." from your OP.

:hi:
