The next time someone tries to tell you how 'good' the dems are doing,
or how 'great' their damn candidate is, tell them they are sadly mistaken, wrong and misguided. Why? Because the intention of the people who fought, suffered deprivation, and in thousands of instances DIED for freedom for the people of THIS COUNTRY were fighting for a grand experiment, that the PEOPLE of this nation govern themselves. THEMSELVES. Not that they end up with a bunch of professional parasites to govern us, to make their decisions for us, to rule over us, not to set up a whole new ruling class, indigenous 'royalty' so to speak. Not tell us when our country has been hijacked by a bunch of lying thugs, greedy and power hungery, who have turned our poor nation into an international pariah, that we don't have the right to DEMAND the removal of the criminals who are destroying our way of life and stealing the futures of our children and grandchildren.

The truth is that our poor country was an experiment, a glorious exeriment, in a form of government not before seen upon this earth. Self rule by the citizens of this country, or as Abraham Lincoln so beautifully phrased it:

<snip>
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

<snip>

...and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

http://showcase.netins.net/web/creative/lincoln/speeches/gettysburg.htm

Well, that wonderful, remarkable experiment was a success. Up until the time that the greedy corporate bastards and their bought and paid for minions decided that we are nothing more then dumb brutes who are unworthy and unskilled and undeserving of deciding our destinies, our lives, the course of our nation. That we are unfit to decide the policies and standards and morals of OUR COUNTRY. That we are lesser beings deserving to be fleeced, to be lied to, to be made to finance all their power grabs and schemes and dreams of of empire. That we are basically fit only to die for what the 'ruling' class wants. Because let this be clearly understood. The only rulers that the Founding Fathers intended for this country were the people. Everyone needs to understand this very clearly, that what the current administration and its 'constitency' want and are doing is NOT for the benefit of the country or for the benefit of the people. It is for their benefit alone that they've turned this poor land upside down and inside out.

Any democrat that you hear say that they would support a continued presence in Iraq, any democrat that you hear say that all options are still on the table in regard to Iran, and any democrat that you hear say that impeachment is off the table, are no damn better than the corrupt bastards who've turned us into the old Soviet Union. They are hanging us out to dry.

And I do not say that lightly. We have a simian-like bastard who's given himself permission to take over control of this country, all three branches of government, if something undefined causes death or disturbace anywhere. It can be anything. Because they can twist anything into a reason for martial law. And who will stop him? How will they stop him? Hold a 'hearing'?

We have an unelected pResident who has told lie upon lie upon lie to justify his criminal activities and he's done it blatantly and without conscience, and not caring at all when it is proven that he's lying. He just adds another lie to the pile when confronted.

We have a vile piece of sub-human garbage who holds secret meetings with energy corporation bigwigs, who says outright that he is unaccountable to the people, who has the SS (how ironic) destroy the records of who he's collaborating with to undermine the Consitution, who can even shoot someone in the face and make them apologize for the inconvenience.

And let's not forget KKKarl Rove. What is his position? Why is he in the White House? What justifies him being on the public payroll. How did this lying sociopath make millions of dollars on his 'salary'?

And the legislative branch? A bunch of pompous greedy bastards who will fight for the right to take an adult child on their political junkets, or to make damn sure that the upper 5 percent of the population don't have to be taxed, or to make sure that the worst polluters don't have to cease and desist the destruction of the environment, or that our food supply shouldn't be safe, or that chemical companies shouldn't be made to ensure that they have adequate security to prevent a terrorist attack from foreign or domestic terrorists. We have agencies that listen to our phone calls, read our e-mails, who can (and do) arrest without probable cause. But we sure can't have the oil companies be told to open up some of the abandoned refineries in this country and get to bringing the cost of gas down. Hell no, can't have that.

We've had two stolen elections. Last November we elected a democratic majority, albeit a small majority, to put a halt to all of this. And what do we get? Nothing. Hearings that come to nothing. Secret trade deals. Telling us that what we need most in this nation, impeachment, is 'off the table'. We see Nancy Pelosi at a picnic at the White House cavorting with one of the most dispicable human beings on earth. While our sons and daughters are DYING fighting a 'war' of doubtful purpose.

The war on 'terra' has been the justification of every illegal, immoral, dispicable, disgusting, criminal act of the thugs and the republican party. What the hell is a war on 'terra'? A war that was a war of choice justified by lies and backed up by a cowardly and corrupt legislative branch of clowns and cowards that were elected to represent the people but who were only interested in covering their own asses. Asswipes that were afraid to be treated like Michael Moore was at the Academy Awards. Well, look who's been proven right. Been proven to be a man of integrity and decency. It sure isn't any of the bastards who voted for the IWR. The same clowns that sold out the country to a bunch of bastards that everyone knew were corrupt, and to allow them to take us down the path to a war it was obvious we could never win. How did we know they were corrupt and criminal? Well, stealing an election and usurping the government of this country was a damn good tip off. And they didn't say a word as bush** & Co. were blatantly lying about WMDs and Saddam not letting the inspectors do their jobs and all the rest of it.

So when Harry and Nancy and the guys and gals in Washington send you their latest press release about what a wonderful job they're doing, what a bunch of hard asses they are, how they're standing up to the most disastrous and criminal administration this country has ever seen, stop and think about the intent of our Founding Fathers. WE run this country. WE sent these to Washinging for a specific purpose (and not only dems voted for them). They are there to represent us only in our fight to put a halt to this administration and their crimes. We didn't send them there to hold worthless 'hearings'. We didnt' send them there to sit and whine 'there's nothing we can do'. WE didn't send them there to tell us we have no right to demand the censure and removal of these criminals. WE didn't send them there to feather their own nests. Best example I can give off the top of my head is Diane Feinstein and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Diane because her hubby is heavily into armaments and the tools of war and death. Hillary because she loves that corporate campaign money, and so does Barry Obama. And they all see us in the Middle East for years to come.

We sent them there to represent us in our attempt to save our country. To take it back. And to protect not only us but our children and grandchildren, to get back for us what is OURS. And what is ours is the government of this country. It does not belong to the criminal administration in the White House. It does not belong to the House and the Senate. It belongs to us. And it is for our children and grandchildren to inherit.

12. Exactly
Democracy and rule by the people sounds like a good idea. But consider how many idiots there are in this country. The Confederacy would probably still exist (I'm pretty sure that many in the north opposed the war). Civil rights would be a pipe dream. Christianity would be the law of the land.

That's not quite the democracy that I want to live in.

13. Exactly, which is something libertarians simply can't grasp
We can't all gather under the village oak tree on Sunday to vote on things; specialization is the heart of civilization, and we all have other things to do to keep things humming along.

This is one of the things that steams me so much about the Republicans: like termites, they never sleep. Twas a time when we had major elections every other year and lived with the results; the modern reactionaries will have none of that if they don't like the result and they'll hound someone they don't like to trump up an impeachment (Clinton), run a recall election (Davis), try to redistrict in years that don't end in zero (Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, California) and simply rage like spoiled children.

We abdicate some of our control at every level in society; politicians aren't the only instance. We let the police order us around on the street because we've delegated them that job to do.

The original post is pretty strange; the concept of politicians is pretty well-entrenched in the common concept of the government-to-be that the framers had.

to continue this 'mess'.

What a quaint way to put it. 'Mess'.

19. That's the best I've heard in a while!
I know congressional democrats have some culpability. I agree that they are not the reason we're in this mess, though. Now is the time to stay together! After the presidential election, we can argue in public all we want. We must get the White House first.

14. Absolutely terrific rant! Best I've read in a while!
You are 100% right! Screw all of these nit-pickers about "democracy" and "republic" bullshit! You are not only right, you are righteous! I am sick and tired of these "Free Democrat" folks on DU, who think that "you are either with us or against us" - if you know what I mean! The governing class in this country has sold us down the river! Except for a terribly small handful, they all have at the very least colluded with the fascists who have brought down our republic. And it has been brought down. When the only "opposition" in the government tells us "there is nothing we can do", then the republic is dying - it may already be dead...

K&R!

In case you haven't noticed, the Democratic-controlled House and Senate have been holding televised hearings on the subject of White House malfeasance, every single week. There's been at least six White House staff resignations so far -- with more to come.

21. Our founding fathers never intended direct democracy
they made us a representative democracy for a reason. And I'm so tired of pessimistic rants like this. Pessimistic rants accomplish NOTHING! How about talking about what we are doing right and what we can do to make things better. I'd like to hear your ideas about what we can change.
