Hillary even outsourced her campaign song!!!
I can't claim this as my own. I just heard it on CNN and thought it was funny and interesting. Hillary chose a Canadian Song by a Canadian singer written for a Canadian product. Ironic? A sign of things to come? I didn't post this as flame bate but just for a good laugh.

get to claim rights for that observation, at least on DU. :)

I'm not sure if there was a different thread in a different forum, where someone else may have said the same.

10. Other than the fact that you're wrong -no problem - Celine Dion is an American born in

Canada and I believe lived their for the first few years of her childhood.

The song has been used in a Canadian advertising spot.

The song was not chosen by Hillary but was the contest choice after a few million votes from those voters interested in the topic. In addition the song was announce as "one of the many" songs Hillary will be using during the campaign.

Other than those facts - this thread is correct about ?

Pundit commentary in the media is usually right wing and usually a lie if it is a put down of any given Dem.

12. grr
You made me go actually search the web for information about Celine Dion.

What I am finding is she was born in 1968, released her first English language album in 1990 - when she was about 22. Everything before that was in French, because she was Canadian for what seems to be more than "the first few years of her childhood." What I am not finding is any information that says she is an American.

I do not own a tv, do not listen to talk radio, get most of my information via the web, and so do not pay much attention to pundit commentary in the media. Nor do I pay much attention to the campaign of Mrs Clinton, since she is far down my list of preferred candidates.

My opinion that she had outsourced her campaign song is my own observation. In this case I possibly fall into the category of poorly informed American. Which means this campaign song is a mistake from the Clinton campaign.

I am willing to let you show me a source of information to back up your claim that Celine Dion is actually an American. Otherwise, don't expect me to help refute the idea that Mrs Clinton outsourced her campaign song.

19. Re grr - I deserve the grr - it was Jim Carrey I was thinking of who had dual citizenship - you're
right.

Celine Dion gives millions to the US Red Cross, so in my mind she was the one with dual citizenship - I was wrong.

As to your opinion being your own re "outsourcing" the choice of the song - you are of course entitled to your opinion

But I am not entitled to different facts - and on the facts you are correct and I am wrong.

But back to opinion - if a million web voters choose a song, does that mean Hillary chose a song?

If Hillary says the song will now be one of the ones she uses in her campaign, does that make it her campaign song (the exclusive nature of the phrase "the song" is what I am getting at)?

No matter - I owe you one for misleading you - so here is the song that won the web contest should you want to refer to it in detail in the future (and I agree it is a lousy choice - but the choice was made by web voters - not Hillary):

"You and I"

High above the mountains, far across the sea
I can hear your voice calling out to me
Brighter than the sun and darker than the night
I can see your love shining like a light
And on and on this earth spins like a carousel
If I could travel across the world
The secrets I would tell

Chorus:
You and I
Were meant to fly
Higher than the clouds
We'll sail across the sky
So come with me
And you will feel
That we're soaring
That we're floating up so high
Cause you and I were meant to fly

Sailing like a bird high on the wings of love
Take me higher than all the stars above
I'm burning, yearning
Gently turning round and round
I'm always rising up I never
Want to come back down

Chorus x2

You and I
Were meant to fly
Higher than the clouds
We'll sail across the sky
So come with me
And you will feel
That we're soaring
That we're floating up so high
Cause you and I were meant to fly

3. she listed a lot of good songs
I don't know why she picked this one. Maybe because the Sopranos stole the thunder of "Don't Stop Believin" (and she did do a parody of it) but the lyrics would have been great for her and Bill.

4. Ah hellz bellz..
HRC is not my candidate of choice..

I don't have one yet..

But "outsourcing" Canadian singer. Ahhhhh, no biggie!

I mean.. without Canada, where we gonna buy our Candian bacon?

And that pure Canadian maple syrup.. maybe not as good as Vermont's.. but not too shabby!

And... how about that great governor of Michigan!

Or the golden oldies of Neil Young?

And if we didn't outsource for their hockey players.. we wouldn't be lifting so many Stanley Cups!

And the 2010 Winter Olympics!

And... ..

Anyway.. I don't think it's where the singer is from..

--- so much as it is.. .. Celine Dion?

Not exactly my cup of tea, but.. whatever floats her boat..

18. Yes.. I know Marty.

But probably a good 85% or more of the top NHL'ers are from Canada... including just about every player on the Stanley Cup champion team, the Anaheim Ducks.

That was just a PHOTO. Gretzky played for the St. Louis Blues, the Los Angeles Kings, and the NY Rangers after that photo was taken...
