Peggy Noonan Attacks Hillary and attacks pro-hillary website
Peggy Noonan attacked Hillary Clinton today in her column.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110010239

Noonan wrote:

"Hillary Clinton doesn't have to prove she's a man. She has to prove she's a woman."

"She doesn't have to prove to people that she's tough enough or aggressive enough to be commander in chief. She doesn't have to show she could and would wage a war. She has to prove she has normal human warmth, a normal amount of give, of good nature, that she is not, at bottom, grimly combative and rather dark."

"This is the woman credited with starting and naming the War Room. Her staff has nicknamed her "The Warrior." Get in her way and she'd squish you like a bug. This has been her reputation for 20 years. And it is her big problem. People want a president to be strong but not hard."

Noonan also alleges that the pro-hillary website http://hillaryis44.com is a Hillary conspiracy:

"But there is another side of the Clinton campaign, and I found some of it this week. It is a new Web site called HillaryIs44.com. It is rather mysterious. It does not divulge who is running the site, or who staffs it. It is not interactive; it has one informative voice, and its target audience seems to be journalists and free-lance oppo artists."

"And it reads like The Warrior's Id. Hillary "took on" a journalist this week and "beat him into submission." Bloomberg has "stripped himself of allies" in "New York's cutthroat politics." "Expect stormy days ahead for Bloomberg," who will wind up "lonely." Republicans "will attempt to rip him to shreds." "A May surprise announcement will be met with mounds of research accumulated over the next 11 months."

"In tone the site is very Tokyo Rose."

"Encouraging readers to send in "confidential tips," its primary target and obvious obsession is Barack Obama. "Senator Barack Obama (D-Rezko) is busy lately lying about President Bill Clinton" and "attacking entire communities." "We have written extensively on Obama, and his indicted slumlord friend Antoin 'Tony' Rezko. We have repeatedly warned David Axelrod, Michelle Obama and Barack Obama that this story is not going away." The Obama campaign is "still posing as innocents incapable of doing anything unsavory even as evidence mounts that unsavory is their favorite dish." "Dirty Obama Smear" and "Obama's Dirty Mud Politics" are two recent headlines."

"This appears to be the subterranean part of Hillary's campaign, the part that quietly coexists with the warm, chuckling lady playing the jukebox with her husband. It coexists with the Maya Angelou part, the listening tour part, the filmed parts."

"It is the war room part. I suspect the site is a back door to that war room."

2. Noonan always seems to be distracted,
whether in her interviews on TV or in her scribblings.

wasn't she reagan's speachification source? That explains a lot.

4. She was a speechwriter for Reagan.
I think head speechwriter, but I stopped paying attention to what that ditz says anymore. I do recall a story from "what i saw at the revolution" (yes, I used lower-case deliberately) where she walked past Nancy Reagan after pulling yet another all-nighter to fine-tune one of Reagan's speeches. She was wearing a wrinkled skirt, from the day before, and was totally exhausted. As she passed the First Lady, she saw Nancy's lip curl in disgust at her appearance. This, after working her butt off to create the fiction that was the Great Communicator's speeches.

That's the result of a former liberal who crawls over to the dark side; poor self esteem.

3. Peggy Nooner
Has yet to prove she is capable of an independent thought outside those fed her by the GOP spin machine.

7. Also, remember that column when she wrote crap about DU?
So there you have it. I guess her level of debate is to point her finger and whine, "I hate you."

25. She also saw a cross in the ruined, twisted metal of the twin towers,
and the face of Satan in the smoke rising from the rubble.

She needs her meds adjusted.

I hope Hilalry is not our nominee, and there are things about her that bother me, but there is also a lot to admire about her, and I will certainly work for her and vote for her if she does end up as our nominee (though I still fantasize about a Gore/Clark ticket, or a Clark/Edwards, Clark/Obama, or even Clark/Hillary ticket).

Doesn't a smarmy hit piece like this come awfully close to violating DU rules?

10. What's next? A disproved allegation from Bob Schrum (oh, wait, the same people who complain about
this blatantly biased article gleefully posted the Bob Schrum's equally biased bullshit).

I guess for some people the outrage depends entirely on whose candidate is being attacked.

To me, it's unacceptable to re-hash false and biased attacks against our candidates no matter whose candidate is under attack.

14. Noonan is like Bay Buchanan or Melanie Morgan
they have had it in for Hillary for 18 years. They despise anyone who has ever been considered a "feminist." They can only see her as the bespectacled "radical" who spoke at Wellesley. The depth and maturity of their political analysis is frighteningly childish. They, like Newt, are still engaged in the politics of the sixties: the "normal" establishment vs the "crazed" hippies. It is at the root of every single thing that comes out of their far rightwing mouths.

a state of nostalgic orgasmic joy, when she discovered this site.

I find it an interesting and convenient read keeping a pulse on the opposition's closet sufferings.

19. never have been to her site.
Is hillaryis44.org her official site?

Just visited that site and Obama's official site, next I will check out Edwards.

IMO her site is horrible, comes across as something I would expect from someone running for Student Body President in High School. Why not Obama? Why not Edwards, broken links, pages under construction. The content and layout is laughable. In the last 24 hours I have gone from supporting any Dem who wins to likely never supporting Hillary.

Edit: did a search and found out this in not her official site. So strike the last sentance, I will still give Hillary a chance although based upon the hillaryis44.org site I don't think much of any supporter of that site.

28. Didn't forget anything
Didn't support the smearing of HRC with partial truths either. IMO the site is sophomoric and is a net negative for HRC. Quite a few HRC supporters seem to think that smearing other candidates is acceptable because it happended to her and Bill. It sucked then and it sucks now.

20. Why confuse the Truth telling you seem to ignore with smearing?
A Smear is a nuance or half Truth spun as a negative against a candidate.

The Hillary 44 site is cataloging the progress, in chronological order, of 2 investigative journalists asking questions about Obama's affiliation with an indicted criminal element who were his clients and generous donors critical to his rise to the Senate.

Hillary was under investigation for 8 yrs and survived clean as a whistle. John Edwards has been been through the investigational process and survived. Seems perfectly normal to me. What makes you think what little is known of Obama's past should give him preferential treatment and a FREE Pass qualifying him for the highest office in the land? Please explain that to me?

That "stopped watch is right twice a day" line is a perennial favorite of our resident DU gun militants, whose viewpoints are overwhelmingly backed by right wing hacks like Noonan. Congrats....

The ultra-ultra conservative Molly Ivins

I will not support Hillary Clinton for president
January 20, 2006

AUSTIN, Texas --- I'd like to make it clear to the people who run the Democratic Party that I will not support Hillary Clinton for president.

Enough. Enough triangulation, calculation and equivocation. Enough clever straddling, enough not offending anyone. This is not a Dick Morris election. Sen. Clinton is apparently incapable of taking a clear stand on the war in Iraq, and that alone is enough to disqualify her. Her failure to speak out on Terri Schiavo, not to mention that gross pandering on flag-burning, are just contemptible little dodges.
