Tweety: "If they (Democrats) are pro-choice, why don't they respect other women's choices?"
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 06:05 PM by Sparkly
This was the lead-in (at the very top of the show) to a discussion I saw earlier that was truly amazing. Supposedly, the Democratic party NEEDS anti-choice voters, and we're intolerant (they all but used that word) for not changing our party platform...

The majority of people in the country, in all polls I've seen, FAVOR a right to abortion, even if it's with limits attached. What a ridiculous twist! We don't support others' right to choose to keep us from choosing, so WE are disrespecting choice?

1. What does he mean, other women's choice to limit choice for all?
My head hurts now.

3. Uh, they continue to have their choice
If they don't want to have an abortion, they don't have to. That's the entire point.

I want to know who is manufacturing the stupid pills because I want to buy stock!!!

5. Tweety, you dimwit
I support a woman's right not to have an abortion. In fact, if I had to choose which is more important -- the right to have a baby versus the right to end a pregnancy -- I'd have to say the first is more important.

I don't have to choose, though.

7. "Other women's choices" to do what? Not have an abortion?
What the fuck is this idiot drooling about now. He needs to go back and sniff Fred Thompson's crotch and stop trying to say anything meaningful. The choice of whether or not to have an abortion is the whole point isn't it?

8. I *highly resent* anyone that is a member of the Democratic party
and is aiming to take choice out of the platform. I consider them enemies...trojan horses. I do not want them in the party if their goal is to deny women the right to choice. If the Democrats keep fucking around trying to pander to these neanderthals, they are going to find a lot of women navigating to a 3rd party. Dems go too far and I predict there will be a feminist party. Should have already been one, truth be told.

25. Yes. Think abortion is bad? Fine by me -- don't have one.
But you or I don't get to make that choice for anyone else.

The right to control your own body -- what could be more bedrock? The idea that we're even discussing this, as if it ought to be something "everyone" gets to decide... mind-blowing.

I don't feel the need to invite the entire country into my uterus. I suspect most women would agree.

10. They're mutually exclusive positions; what's next from that charred brain of his?
How can someone who supports the right to choose support those who demand to deny people the right to choose? Pluralists and liberals--unlike most conservatives--believe in people's rights to have differing opinions, but it's ridiculous to expect toleration of beliefs that seek to deny one's own rights.

I don't see any roadblocks to anti-choice women being a part of the party and allying themselves with other policies, in fact they've been welcomed.

This is sheer irrationality, unless he was talking about issues other than abortion, in which case a professional word-flailer like him should go back to remedial communication class and learn how to encode his sloppy ravings into some language that accurately represents his "thoughts".

It's all a conspiracy to drive rational people either insane or inanity-induced strokes.

11. just a bonus--did he add that Holy Cross rescinded his speaking invite a few years
ago because of his pro-choice views? I remember reading about and he seemed might annoyed--he should respect Holy Cross's choice and not bitch about if he wants to be balanced.

15. Send the dumbfuck a dictionary, so he can look up the word CHOICE
Jesus Christ on a bicycle, I can't believe how dumb that asshole is sometimes. Tip O'Neill has gotta be spinning like a top in his grave--and that's no small trick, given his girth.

What, does he see the party as rounding up pregnant women, strapping them to a table, and grabbing the Hoover, or what?

16. Well, choosing Choice is you Choice.
Why get upset over convoluted thinking. If I choose choice, I opt for that option.
But remember, choice is a matter of this or that and if I chose that, then this is not my choice and if I don't want you to choose, thats my choice.

er......

May I go lie down for a while?

18. Uh, Tweets dear, we do respect the decision they make, either way.
That's why it's called "choice."

It'd be bad if we had a system like the one in China. We don't, because we've been fighting to keep it the individual's decision.

Think before you opine, Laughing Boy. :dunce:

I guess the dimwit hasn't read the polling data that the majority of the country now supports gays and lesbians serving openly in the military.

He is incredibly loose with his facts.
