4. vote for who you like
but it's going to have to be another reason besides "she can't win" because it's not backed up by the evidence.

6. I agree. I used to be a strong proponent of the idea that she is unlectable
As the facts change, I must change as well. The evidence shows that not only is she electable now, we have another prominent candidate who is so weak in the GE that he might lose California, New York, and even Massachusetts to Ghouliani. If we are going to single out one candidate to criticize his or her GE weakness, HRC is the wrong candidate.

8. I always thought he would
he peels votes from the puke side, not ours - his imminent entry into the race is good for us - with him and thompson in, we can say bye bye rudy. Then we get to work on thompson - should be easy.

If you want more of the same, vote repuke, if you want a change, vote Democratic.

7. K & R - there's some hypocrisy going on
if this were news about Obama, or Edwards, praise would be lavished and we'd all be looking forward to a Democratic win i 08. Because Hillary appears to be the most electable in this particular poll, its a bad thing. I want my values represented in the next adminsitration, and I want the criminals from the present administration to be held accountable for their crimes, which at points escape definintion, but none of that happens if we don't win. If Hillary is the top candidate, with the best chance to defeat the repuke nom, then I'm all for it. Because the alternative would be far worse.

29. You all realize that Obama polls better than Hillary...
...against every Republican (except Guilliani who he does one or two points worse against) in that same Newsweek Poll.

These pro-Hillary threads are becoming very boring and one-sided. I don't mind that there are people here who support her, I hate how blatantly dishonest they are.

9. However, Bloomberg can win New York state
so that will hurt Hillary. All he needs to do is win NYC and he'll take upstate, and win NY. He can also take NJ.

Bill won with just 43% of the vote, so hillary's got 3% cushion so far.

there's no way bloomberg will win NY if hillary runs, if obama or edwards run who knows, but NY'ers are dems and like hillary.

12. Unless someone else enters the race, I think it's almost certain she will be the nominee.

That's very unfortunate, since she is not our strongest candidate.

13. i think iowa and nh will give her a run for her money
she's not guaranteed to win either one. However, if you negate those 2 states, she does better elsewhere.

But even if she is the nominee - Bloomberg will be in the race, and possibly Rudy, so if she loses to either one, they can't be as bad as Bush, right?

A Bloomburg presidency intrigues me - i'll have to think more about it.

The problem with Hillary is that Bill will act as co-president in all aspects, he'll be the shadow president and frankly I would prefer Bill making the decisions. But as i've written in the past, he will be going right up to the line in conflict with the 22nd amendment. It'd be weird to have a shadow presidency. But I would take Bill over dick cheney.

14. Obama beats all Republicans soundly in the poll as well
Hmmm...no mention of that...huh...

Obama 46
McCain 35
Bloomberg 11

Obama 47
Thompson 32
Bloomberg 14

Obama 44
Giuliani 38
Bloomberg 11

Obama 53
Romney 37
Undecided 10

Obama 51
McCain 41
Undecided 8

Obama 49
Giuliani 44
Undecided 7

Aside from that, national polls at this point are fairly pointless unless you just want to see how name recognition is being percieved. Plus...this is a pretty crappy poll:

"...the margin of error is plus/minus 7 percentage points for results based on 422 registered Democrats and Dem. leaners and plus/minus 8 percentage points for results based on 324 registered Republicans and Rep. leaners. In addition to sampling error, the practical difficulties of conducting surveys can also introduce error or bias to poll results."

A poll with a margin of error of 3% or less is a good poll. 7% MoE? Gazoinks!

but I'll say this is an outlier. Most head-to-head polls conducted have shown her losing. People want to talk about hypocrisy...I didn't see the anti-Obama people jumping all over the NYT general election poll that showed him doing damn well.

Laugh all you want at the results of a national poll with a 7+% MoE. Senator Clinton's name recognition in this poll will soon sour as more people see Obama, who will in fact be the nominee.

The Obama ground game in Iowa is already pretty strong. I'm guessing that he will be tied with Edwards for the lead by the fall, if not sooner.

Good luck with your preferred candidate. I'm convinced that my preferred candidate is better on many fronts.

33. National Polls mean nothing.
It's the state polls that matter.

The only states the candidates not named HRC have a significant lead in are their home states. All other states are a toss-up or being lead by HRC.

21. Did it ever occur to you that the MSM and Repubes...
...are probably conspiring to shove her down our throats via just such propaganda because they figure SHE CAN'T WIN? And THAT is why you see all these polls all over the place?

Just something to consider while you're swallowing this stuff whole.

Do you TRUST the MSM and the Repube DICK-tators running this country? Because that is likely who (or facsimiles thereof) is behind these polls. Ever looked into that?

the only reason hillary is doing so well in the polls right now is because more people know who she is. it's name recognition only.

And I can assure you that the poll was probably taken mainly in NY and the northeast. I can tell be the way Bloomberg strips numbers from the pugs like Thompson.

Bloomberg wouldn't strip SHIT from any of the pug candidates outside of NY and it's suburbs.

27. This poll is registered voters, not likely voters
and you always have to subtract a couple of point for the Dems, since they vote disproportionately less amongst "likely" voters.

Having said that, this is still good news for all our top three candidates, and especially encouraging to see that Bloomberg pulls far more from Repubs than from Dems.
