...how did he know there was a trapdoor?

One of my hobbies is catching George in the little lies. Everybody knows that he lies about the big stuff (DUH!), but I think that a person's character is revealed even better about the LITTLE shit they lie about.

The first time I noticed this was in his autobiography (sic) where he mentions continuing to fly airplanes, long after his wings were clipped for probable drug use. There have been many instances since then, from his excuses about bruises to his alcohol use.

Anyway, I was reading the transcript of his interview on 60 Minutes just now:

“Well, I just, I wasn't sure what to anticipate beyond the yelling and stuff like that. And I didn't…,” Bush says.

“You didn't wanna see him go through the trapdoor,” Pelley asks.

“Yeah. Yes. I didn't,” the president says.

I just went back and looked at the video, and there isn't really a way to see that he is going to go through a trapdoor (until he actually does). The rope goes up to a pulley attached to the ceiling, so he could just as easily have been hoisted up to hang, or kicked off a chair or whatever.

But when the interviewer mentions the trapdoor, it doesn't faze ol' George one bit.

in the one time that i saw the preparation of the guy to by hanged, he had what appeared to be a thick, black scarf around his neck.

why was that? they didn't want to bruise poor saddam's neck? or was that a "dress rehearsal"?

my own tinfoil hat opinions? it was probably a lookalike (otherwise saddam would have sang like a canary during the trial, so they made a deal with him), and the lookalike was probably told this would help to prevent him from suffocating, he just had to play the part.

and the leaked phone camera video of it was a part of the "proof" that saddam was indeed hanged.

of couse the lookalike may have found out too late that it didn't work...

now saddam is living next to ken lay, on some obscure tropical island. rumor has it cheney is buying an adjacent lot (what with the coming trial, "heart attack" and subsequent immediate "cremation"). the saddam lookalike may not have fared so well.

so now it is offical. i am as nutty as a gay cake. (it's PRIDE weekend here in manhattan!)

sometimes it is good to have an active imagination (other than when i'm just needing one hand to "click" the mouse on the porn websites... :-) )

The above transcript does not even hint that Bush lied. I am sure that Bush learned a lot about executions when he was Governor of Texas.
