Richardson lets Iowans meet man behind ads
Indianola, Ia. - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson at a gathering here Saturday renewed the conviction of some Iowans who have already decided to support him as a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"I had already donated to the campaign," said Dan Hoffa, 54, of Indianola. "I've been following him since he first got into the race. I wanted to see him in person to help form an opinion."

Hoffa said he was even more convinced that Richardson was the right candidate now that he had seen the governor.

"He does have a comprehensive vision (for the nation), and I also think he has the experience and the substance to see it through," Hoffa said.

Besides, he said, "I think his ads are humorous and informative. I think what his advertising does for me is lay out his experience."

Richardson, who arrived at Saturday's event about 20 minutes late, told the crowd of more than 120 mostly Warren County residents that Iowans are telling him they like his advertising.

"Do you like my ads?" he asked. Applause resounded in the room at the Warren County Administrative Building for the advertising, particularly one ad that shows a person going over Richardson's resume as if he were applying for a job.

While Richardson's debate performances are only so-so, he seems to be connecting very well through his ads with voters. I think the ads are wonderful.

1. I, too, am impressed with him...
I haven't seen any ads...

I like him a lot...

I would hope, if he doesn't get the nomination, and let's face it, that is a long shot now, that he would be a prominent member of the cabinet of whoever does get it...

He has a lot of invaluable experience and it would be a shame to not make maximum use of it.
