Questions for Kristin Gore
Interview by DEBORAH SOLOMON
June 24, 2007

As the second of Al Gore’s three daughters, you must get tired of being asked whether your father will enter the 2008 race. So let’s just get that question out of the way: Do you think he’ll run? No, no, no. He calls himself a recovering politician. He says he’s on Step No. 9 and he doesn’t want to risk a relapse.

1. No, I think they've all been told to stick to that story
He gives a much less certain response.

2. Even if she did know, she'd not answer in the affirmative — when and if he
announces, he'll do it himself.

3. Although I hope she's wrong....
... I actually think she speaks the truth here.

Al Gore is at peace with himself now that he's above the political fray. He feels that he can do more good as an outsider than he can as a candidate in an arena that has grown increasingly messy and trivial. (Enough with the threads about polls and fundraising already!)

That said (and speaking of Peace), my scenario is that he'll throw his hat into the ring at the end of this year, shortly after he wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

4. I think he could honestly be at "no" right now and I think that could change...
I don't know what would change it, but it could change.

Right now, Clinton, Obama, and Edwards are all beating Rethug candidates in the polls - so maybe he sees no need.

:(

8. Kristin is the one who gave us Lieberman on the ticket. Her dad listened to
her, unfortunately.
