Rahm E.. on Hardball re: Cheny
R.E. tells Chris Matthews that he is ready to cut off funding for Cheney's office. Says Cheney can run off his Senate budget.

The header for the segment is "Cheney's Secret Government".

4. R.E. just said he would agree with Cheney...
And then give Cheney $100,000. to run his office as a member of the legislature.

7. did you expect anything different?
There are many reasons we are in the situation we are in today, and one of the reasons is the Democratic leadership for the past six years

Yes, there was the supreme court decision, the corporate control of the media, but unless we recognize the weakness of our party's leaders nothing will change

6. Yes, he said he would give Cheney 100K to run is office
Tweety said Cheney would win the fight. Then R.E. said that Tweety forgot one component in all this - the American people. Tweety went dumb.

11. Melanie Sloan up now
Calling it the Cheney branch of gov't.

If he wants to be in the legislature, then the Office of Senate Security should come in to see how he's handling documents.

13. I know what Cheney is up to!!!!
Before Bush's term expires, he will resign and Cheney moves himself up to the presidency..Painless, daunting POWER move. Congress better nip this now and take him to task on the Constitutionality of these unprecedented self-determinations..

Oh,and may I add, Scalia is coaching Cheney along. Federalists are about to make the transition complete to the position of The Unitary Executive. Scalia is the head of The Federalist Branch in DC.

Have RE write to Cheney asking if he is planning to be the first Unitary Executive?

14. I was blown away by ASHCROFT'S comments in the Post
The story in the Sunday segment about Ashcroft raising his voice at Cheney and shouting over Addington surprised me. Clearly, Ashcroft wasn't quite the team player we all thought. They needed a Gonzalez who wouldn't question anything. In today's Post segment, Ashcroft said, "The vice president's views 'carried a great deal of weight. He was the E.F. Hutton in the room. When he talked, everybody would listen.'" Cheney, he said, "compelled people to think carefully about whatever he mentioned." I take that to mean Ashcroft certainly thought Cheney ran the show.

I like Rahm's suggestion of cutting off his Executive budget and letting him get by on his Senate budget. Cheney's the biggest crook in government in my 47 years.
