CBS Poll: Young voters split between Hillary and Obama...
Edited on Tue Jun-26-07 09:36 PM by SaveElmer
Another myth about Obama's appeal debunked...that being Obama was the overwhelming choice of younger voters...

Both Democrats far ahead of any Republican...though 45% overall say none...

In fact according to this CBS Poll...

Voters 18-29 broke down as follows...

Obama 18
Hillary 17
Guiliani 4
Romney 2
Thompson 2

If the election were held today, a majority of 17 to 29-year-olds (54 percent) say they'd vote for the Democratic candidate, while 32 percent would vote Republican.

1. depends on how many are polled. It is noted all over Hillary doesn't appeal to young or
college educated voters.

Just look at all these stupid uneducated people.

:eyes:

What's so insulting about your constant babble about "College educated" support and shit is that a LOT of working class successful people like myself didn't have the chance to finish college. I had to work and support myself. Your constant post of "only the uneducated support Hillary" and shit like that show what a elitist little snob you are.

3. 18-29 yr olds have like a 4% voting rate. The poll should ask are
registered to vote or have you ever voted and leave it at that. This group are the most disappointing and energy wasters around.

15. Agreed. I'm glad that it's those two who have their polling padded by the 4% turnout age range. (nt)

4. this poll is pretty darned wierd....
what do the numbers add up to? 43% plus 45% who say none.

Well, for one 43 + 45 = 88. So what happened to the other 12%? Asleep at the wheel? Missing in action? Yet to be counted? Caged? Still partying? Taking remedial math classes? Pondering the margin of error?

Yawn....

7. I figured most here were adults...
A pretty bold assumption actually...

And they could go check it out if they wanted to see all the details...

8. I am an adult...55....but you could have easily given us the data ...
...if you would have been industrious enough to cut and paste from your article.... as in....

Barack Obama
18%
Hillary Clinton
17%
Rudy Giuliani
4%
Mitt Romney
2%
Fred Thompson
2%
Other
4%
No, none of them
45%

See how easy that would have been?

I guess it was even easier calling others non-adults.

Good luck winning people over to Hillary with citing crazy polls like that and by doing so without careful attention to detail. And then calling others childish. Adults can pay attention to detail....ya know?

9. By the way you are acting...
I would have knocked about 45 years off that number...

I posted the parts of the poll that were relevant...if folks wanted to dig deeper they were perfectly free to do so...

10. thanks for the personal attack...something children do
but what you failed to mention was that the poll's numbers do not add up! Even when you include the "other" it only adds up to, what is it, 92%. So how in bejezus is that a valid poll?

Seems like you hillary folks are very eager to jump on any poll whatsoever that will make your candidate look good.

And then you make personal attacks against fellow democrats who have difficulties with the details.

Good luck winning us over.

11. Yes that's right...
My goal all along was to post a misleading CBS News poll...I'm sure they knew it only added up to 92% and wanted to see how people like you would react...

If you are seriously trying to discredit the poll simply because they did not publish every detail, then be my guest...a pretty childish thing to do...

13. maybe i am foolish wondering why things add up to 92%
But I don't think so. THe main stream media have made mistakes and sloppy reporting before. I suspect this is just one more example.

So where do you think the missing 8% went off to?

Come on, you don't really have to believe every poll that makes Hillary look good.

Heck, the poll doesn't even compare democrat to democrat. 45% of the respondents admitted they will have 0% impact on the election, and who knows how many of the rest will actually vote, considering the age group's long history of non-voting.

Biggest question about the poll: SO WHAT? What can you say about the poll that shows it has any bearing at all about the election? How can you defend its validity? If you can't defend it, perhaps questions are in order?

12. The key is getting this age group to vote in the primaries
It's pretty obvious that most will vote for the dem in the general. Unfortunately, they tend to sit the primaries out.

17. Looks good for our candidate and support from young people.
It is true that young people make up a larger proportion of support for Obama than they do for Hillary.

...as she's leading him by 12-15 points but he's leading her by one point (a statistical dead heat) among young voters.

I'll be interested in watching this voting bloc as the campaign moves on...and in seeing more poll numbers. I'm not sure these are a wholly accurate reflection of what's going on.

18. Conveniently omitting that she is unfavorably rated by more than twice as many in this age group
<The poll, conducted by the New York Times, CBS News and MTV , found that 43 per cent of the respondents between the ages of 17 and 29 have unfavourable view of Clinton compared with only 19 per cent for Obama.>

You grabbed that from elsewhere.

Kudos for some debunking of his OP but your insinuation that SaveElmer intentionally left that out is BS.
