Thank you, Elizabeth Edwards... |
|
...for standing up against the media promotion of hateful speech. No one else has been willing to do this publicly because of the courage required. This is the kind of courage we need in our elected officials at every level. It is the kind of courage you demonstrate regularly. I haven't yet decided who to support as President (though it will be a Democrat :7 ) but your action yesterday was truly that of a winning 'First Lady' !
Here's my letter of support to MSNBC:
When I saw the promo that Ann Coulter was to be on Hardball...which I often watch...I was disgusted. I did not watch it live. When I heard about Elizabeth Edwards calling in, and the controversy, I did watch the interview online.
This morning, that interview has been 'the topic' on most MSNBC shows. In a kindergarten-like discussion, your people are pointing the finger and saying "She did it , first"..."No, she started it" to decide whether the blame for what happened on the show is Coulter or Edwards' fault. PATHETIC!
You are all missing the point. Ann Coulter has ONE motive: Get attention by stirring up controversy through the use of hateful speech so that she can sell books and make MONEY. She has used many people, including the Edwards and the 9/11 widows as her victims if it suits her purpose. MSNBC just demonstrated to me that you are willing to sink to her level for ratings...and to also make money.
I'm proud of ANYONE who stands up against this kind of hateful, childish dialog in our society. ..and I thank Elizabeth Edwards for doing so. That is what a strong First Lady should do for our country...point out the need for discussion on the issues when we are electing a President. Our country DESPERATELY needs to focus on issues at this critical time. What Ann Coulter does is distract from that, for her own selfish purposes. The media is responsible as well for giving her the stage.
If you all haven't read Al Gore's book, "Assault on Reason", I suggest you do. Many of us citizens are reading it and agree with the former Vice President about the role of television on democracy. I am seriously considering disconnecting my cable TV service...due to this kind of programming. The only thing that is keeping me as a customer is C-Span , PBS and Countdown, with Keith Olbermann on your network. If I see Ann Coulter on one of those shows, I'll be done.

1. I can't blame Elizabeth for wanting to tear Coulter's face off but |
|
Ihate to see more publicity for that hound from hell. Just as people used to want to see freaks at carnivals, there are those subhumans who want to gather around to hear the latest grunt out of Coulter.
Every time we stir up our outrage with this creep, she makes another buck off her so-called books. I hope I am wrong but she does keep popping up on the tube so I wonder...

And worst of all, it looks like the Edwards campaign is trying to exploit this in order to further their campaign. That makes me uncomfortable.

6. Did you see the clip? E. Edwards remained on point at all times. She was dignified and direct. |
|
Coulter tried to accuse her of speaking for John and Elizabeth promptly put her in her place. By the end of it the people who were standing around a (for once) speechless Coulter started cheering - for Elizabeth. Maybe THAT makes you uncomfortable, but I loved EVERY minute of it.

7. there is nothing wrong with using this stuff to raise money |
|
political campaigns are about garnering support (which in this phase of the cycle means money) by showing who you are and who you are not.
HRC's campaign seems to be about defending her against the attacks.
Edwards properly talks about how Coulter slanders every candidate, not just him.
He talks about the outrageous things coulter says about HRC and BO, and how attacks on any Dem must be stopped.

You have inspired me to send my own letters.
I absolutely love and respect Mrs. Edwards. She is such a beautiful person. She is one of the few people that have shown the courage to stand up to this hateful woman. She courage in that act and she had truth on her side.

8. Elizabeth Edwards has more class, more appeal, more brains, |
|
and more dignity in the fingernail clippings she threw away yesterday than bitch Coulter has, had, or will ever have in her emaciated hate-filled skeleton. The ONLY reason she's newsworthy is because of shills like Tweety who give the rabid bitch a platform to spew her hate from. Cable news is useless. We got more news from a half hour of Cronkite in the 60's than we do all the 24-hour networks combined, unless of course, Paris Hilton is getting in or out of jail. The only thing that makes me sicker and madder than Coulter are the media whores who continually give her any face time at all, legitimizing this bitch as someone who matters.
