Poll: Clinton on Course to Win NH (but Gore wins when added to mix)
This is the press release from the poll cited by the Moonie Times with the first part of my subject line their header (I added the Gore info)

"Of likely Democratic voters, 37 percent said they support or lean to Hillary Clinton, 19 percent picked Barack Obama, while John Edwards and Bill Richardson each received 9 percent. Just 16 percent were undecided.

“Hillary Clinton clears the field and with only 16 percent undecided; it is unlikely that any of her announced opponents will catch her," said Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos.

Younger voters favor Obama
Clinton’s large lead over Obama is driven by an age gap, not a gender gap. Among younger voters (ages 18-45), Obama led Clinton, 26 percent-to-25 percent, but among older voters (ages 56 and over), Clinton trounced Obama, 47 percent-to-15 percent.

The Gore factor
The only obstacle for Clinton in the Democratic primary is Al Gore. Twenty-nine percent of Clinton voters would switch to Gore if he announced for president, and when all of the switches from other Democratic candidates were recalculated, Gore would defeat Clinton. In total, 32 percent of Democratic voters would support Gore over the candidate they are currently leaning toward. "

1. I'm surprised the % of people who'd switch to Gore is so low
I'd have predicted closer to 50%. Certainly over 40%.

2. So it looks like we need to blame the older voters if Hillary gets the nom.
I guess they're okay with a woman, but not a black man. Seems about right to me.

4. Seriously?
"If my candidate doesn't get the nomination, it's all because of racism".

Perhaps they would vote for Hillary because they think she's the better candidate.

Naaah. Can't be. Hillary is the female incarnation of Satan.

7. I live closer to the Mass-NH line than I do to Boston, and have many friends and acquaitences in NH
from former campaigns. In the last week, I've made it a point to call as maky of these people as I could, and this poll seems to be in direct contradiction to what I've been told repeatedly: I talked to only 2 people who were for Hillary. The rest were for either Obama or Edwards (more for Edwards than Obama, by about 2 to 1), and many (about 75%) of them said they would vote for Gore if he got into the race.

This "poll" is almost backwards from what I learned from people I know there. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

12. I've talked with hundreds of people in Madison from all over the US...
...while doing an Obama table and I can't recall anyone saying they would support Clinton. Nobody. Zilch. Nada. If anything, I've had people say they were for Clinton and have switched...

It's seven months away from the first votes cast. That is a LONG time politically.

13. That's just silly....
I ran a democratic booth for ten days and only two republicans came up to talk with me...

And guess what, the GOP bat the dem's...

The only thing you can truly infer from your experience is that the people who stopped at the Obama table are Obama supporters....

14. You mean Clinton supporters aren't flocking to an Obama table?
Who-da thunk it?

20. There is no Clinton table...hmm...wonder why....
There's an Edwards table....a Kucinich table... a very busy Obama table... why not a Clinton table?

What's also funny is that Edwards and Kucinich supporters come by to talk about the issues and are generally fairly cordial. But no Clinton supporters appear to want to stop by... if there actually are any.

22. And yet she is kicking Obama's ass in the polls
Strange. I mean she doesn't have the all important table at the farmer's market.

How can she possibly be in the lead?

always the same hoax of how popular Obama is... when in fact, he's floundering in the polls nationwide..

If Bull Shit was dynamite, you could blow-up the World!

21. I've thought about that and may do something along those lines
I was thinking about having someone set up a Senator Clinton table just to see what happens. There don't appear to be any Clinton supporters brave enough to stand out in public with signs and bumperstickers. It would be a hoot to hear people catcall the person behind the Clinton table; I'm almost certain that that would be the case.

If you're such a fan of Senator Clinton, take it to the streets like I do for Obama. Outside. In public. Under the sun. Not sitting in your blogcave in your pajamas... I dare you, but frankly I don't think you have it in you to do it.
