Your ideal cabinet
Ok, everyone's been talking about who the next president should be non-stop.

But what about the rest of the admin.?

Pick your ideal administration, fill as many spots as you please. I'll start out with a few.

Joe Biden, Sec. of State
John Kerry, Attny. Gen. (Just got the idea from another thread, kudos to the starter)
Al Gore, head of the EPA (If he chooses not to run for prez, mind you)

Go for it.

5. Nice picks.
Remembered a lot of people i forgot. Only one i disagree with is Lieberman, the only cabinet i want him in is a small wooden one dropped out of a plan over Iran.

15. Actually, it's a good idea to lift lieberman out of the Senate. We could
make the case for bipartisanship, as when Clinton named Republican Bill Cohen as Defense Secretary. It would keep lieberman from fucking with the Senate anymore, that's for sure, and would look like a promotion to him - throwing him a nice bone. File it under "Keep Your Friends Close and... "

I'm assuming here that Al Gore would be PRESIDENT.
Presumably Hillary or Obama as Veep.

But I like mr715's list just above and would make only a few changes.

Attorney General: John Edwards
Defense Secretary: Wesley Clark
Sec of State - Bill Clinton* or Jimmy Carter* or perhaps even Joseph Wilson
Sec of Treasury - Paul Krugman
Sec of Interior - Olympia Snowe (shrewd to take another republi-CON OUT of the Senate)
Sec of Labor - Richard Gephardt
Sec of Commerce - Steve Jobs
Sec of Housing/Urban Development - Carol Mosely Braun or maybe Miami mayor Manny Diaz
Sec of Health and Human Services - Howard Dean
Sec of Transportation - Joe Lieberman
Sec of Education - Bob Graham or Gloria Rodriguez (CEO of Avance)
Sec of Energy: Ed Begley Junior? High profile, hugely serious, articulate, and credible about environmentalism and alternative energy living, and not doing a whole lot as an actor.
Sec of Vet Affairs - Max Cleland
Sec of Agriculture - Tom Vilsack
EPA Administrator - RFK, Jr.
Sec of DOMESTIC Security - Gary Hart
National Security Advisor - Richard Holbrooke
Secretary of Homeland Security: Richard Clarke
US Trade Representative: Lee Iacocca - or maybe Ahnold (see lieberman argument).
UN Ambassador: *A critical position to demonstrate to the world how absolutely we are Under New Management. Perhaps Bill Clinton here instead. Although he'd make a GREAT Secretary of State. Maybe Jimmy Carter? Teresa Heinz Kerry? Barack Obama if he's not VP?
I'd ask Al Sharpton to be Press Secretary, or perhaps Chairman of the FCC.
And I'd keep the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, with some fan-fare I might add, although it wouldn't have that much to do, really. Throw a bone to the fundies and make them think we're at least open to them. And give them NOTHING ELSE.

13. I'd put RFK Jr. as Chairman of the FEC
And put a lot more aspects of voting under federal jurisdiction.

I read his book, "Take This Job and Ship It". The book was great.

18. All these are MOST intriguing. One rule, though: Do NOT take Democrats
out of the Senate or House. If you're gonna recruit from there, pick a token republi-CON. Lower their numbers. Not ours.

19. There are exceptions
As long as the seat can be retained. Sen Obama fits this perfectly; Dem state with a Dem governor.

I had thought all states, when replacing a Congress-critter, would just have the governor anoint someone.

Turns out, at least in Wyoming , the incumbent party picks a slate and the governor chooses best in show (I'm personally looking forward to the evening gown portion of the festivities and refuse to imagine the swimsuit part)

I must say, as dream cabinets go, I was really hoping for Attorney General Hillary Clinton in a Clark/? administration. Just imagine all those smug little Nazis just shitting themselves.

And I'm sorry, but Steve Jobs is a sales man. I don't need more shit sold to me, I want the product I paid big money for back in mid April.

21. It depends, you mostly don't want to take them out of red states
Clinton got criticized for taking Lloyd Bensten out of the Senate and making him Treasury Secretary, which essentially turned the seat over to the GOP.

But if it's a blue state, especially a blue state with a Dem Governor, it shouldn't be a problem. Taking someone out of the House isn't a big deal because the margins are almost never close enough that one seat determines the majority.
