Can we do something formal on DU to thank Elizabeth Edwards for standing up to Coulter?

It seems that the number one issue on DU has often been the lack of anyone standing up to the RW pundits and now someone has.I think this effort should be recognized.And not to mention that Elizabeth is also a DUer!

...so I don't know how much luck anyone would have putting together a second group donation toward breast cancer research. But anyone can donate in someone else's name.

I did learn, yesterday, that Nancy Brinker, the founder of Susan G. Komen, is a huge Bush/Republican financial contributor, and I won't support a foundation that pays her a salary. There is, however, the Virginia Clinton Kelly Fund for breast cancer research. I think I could feel good, all the way around, about supporting their work.

Even more important than the Edwards campaign is the fact that anyone who considers themselves "liberal" or "progressive" MUST vow to not give Coulter ANY additional attention. Her career is based on being inflammatory. If no one pays her any attention, that's the only hope we have of her finally going away.

No one should ever comment (or especially express outrage) at her antics. Not here, not anywhere. It's that attention that sells her books. The fact that she pisses us off so much is most of her appeal to right-wingers. On a another message board I frequent (not explicitly politically-related) where discussion turns to politics, the righties outright claim that, while she says some ridiculous and incorrect things, they love her for how she pisses us off.

But I'm sure there was some calculation on the part of the Edwards campaign ~ the timing was perfect to get them back in the news and help boost donations. My guess is the first of those solicitation emails regarding Coulter was written before the encounter, it came out so quickly. This is politics and it's the end of a fundraising quarter ~ if the Edwards campaign didn't need the press and money right now Elizabeth probably wouldn't have bothered with Coulter. Both parties made money on this one.
