David Gregory Goes Medieval on Elizabeth Edwards on the "Today" Show!

Holy cow, this has to be the nadir. How on earth can anyone with the common sense of a box of hardware ask Elizabeth Edwards "if you strip away the inflammatory language, does Ann Coulter have a point?" and then ask whether the left wing is just as bad? If you strip away Ann Coulter's inflammatory language, what remains? That is like "aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln..." And who does David Gregory think is the left wing Ann Coulter? Bill Maher!

Bonus cowardice points for twisting the knife in Elizabeth Edwards' back and then asking about her cancer.

1. They must have read Gregory the memo.
After he got out of line a couple of years back, something must have happened. Since his brief detour into actually journalism, he seems to have been successfully re-educated. I wonder if it was anything other than 'Dan Rather' that was said to him?

2. Ok, I'm ready to finally throw that asshole David Gregory under the bus now.
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 07:16 AM by IanDB1
David Gregory said THAT? And I'd thought he was one of the last honest reporters in DC.

We should clone Helen Thomas, and give the clone David Gregory's seat in the White House Press Room.

Let's start making a list of all the reasons why David Gregory sucks huge donkey balls.

1) Dancing with Cheney.
2) Endorsing Politico.com.
3) Creating a new replacement for "some people say" and unleashing it on Elizabeth Edwards

And there's more. Who else has some?

5. He danced with Rove.
Dancing with Cheney would be a physical impossibility I'd guess.

3. It gets worse, that a**hole Scarborough is bringing that horrid woman - Coulter on air.
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 07:16 AM by ShortnFiery
Correct me if I'm wrong, but BOTH MSNBC and CNN have now sunk *as low as* Murdoch's FOX Cable News?

I'm beyond disgusted with the *bread and circuses* (keep the little people either entertained OR fighting among themselves) that these corporate assholes are attempting to pass for Journalistic NEWS within the USA M$M. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

:grr:

10. The Coulter segment on Morning Joe was disgusting
Scarborough did nothing but soothe and comfort "Poor Victim Of It All" Ann.

Amazing .... Harpy and Shrew to Peaches and Cream in 24 hours.

4. ". . .goes Medieval. . ." indeed
Yeah I found that inquiry about her cancer when he had tried his best to say that her position was no better than AC's was just plain cruel.

But never forget - in the end - Saint Peter is going to SEND YOU DOWN. No Slack!

In other words, one each, David Gregory has sold his soul to The Dark Side ...

7. If you strip away the inflamatory language??
She called him a fag? What part of that can you "strip away" and still have a point?

Joe Scarborough refers to Ann's comments as references to pop culture. The first time I have ever heard a hateful slur described so nicely.

11. Kind of amazing, really...
Ann gets fired from her traditional conservative writing gigs for her over-the-top rhetoric, but the mainstream media can't resist sticking a live microphone in front of her. Personally, I hope Anne keeps talking, because every time she opens her mouth, a thousand reasonable, moderate voters are repulsed away from conservatism. If I were a conservative, I'd put out a hit on her to shut her the hell up.

Rock on, Ann!!

17. I agree....Ann Coulter represents Republican values.
When you got nothing, you resort to personal attacks. The political cowards in the GOP hide behind people like Coulter....she probably gets her talking points from Karl. Dancin' David is so representative of how the broadcast media has been co-opted by business. He can't play if he don't dance for his betters.

12. the whole of the media protected Coulter
They all had her on defending her against Elizabeth. I can't believe I continue to be shocked at the media. They are never going to be neutral. Morning Joe actually was talking nuance, parsing Coulter's statement to show that it was not actually a wish for Edwards to die from a terrorist?! (and her language is so over the top--there is no parsing in "reality").

Ya know the "controversies" with Kerry's joke, and other democrats who were forced to apologize? No one dissected their statements to determine if they really really did insult someone.

What a double standard. Good God. Not one station is better than Fox.

18. Thinking Something Similar
While reading your post I was thinking something similar to what you ended your post with. When Democrats say something the Republicans never want to look at the nuance and/or parse through the words. In fact they actually criticize Democrats for being willing to look at the nuance of a statement. However, the Republicans flip to the other side when one of their own makes a completely uncalled for statement. It is one more example of Republican hypocrisy.

16. Shocked
I was completely surprised when Gregory asked Elizabeth Edwards the question about taking the inflamatory language away from Coulter's speech. It seemed so stupid to me. How could he ask that question?
