Please excuse my dumb political question...
But I'd like to know....

Just what is push polling?

I keep reading this phrase, and nobody has defined it ...

Thanks...

1. not a dumb question at all Peg. A push poll is a pollster that calls you and tells
basically what a piece of shit X Candidate is "Were you aware that Senator Obama likes to eat kittens and do you approve?"

So....questions in the form of propaganda?

Pushing you to a certain point of view....

What a dirty tactic that is......

2. push polling is when you phrase poll questions to give people propaganda
so instead of saying "do you like Senator X's Health Care plan?" you ask "Senator X wants to have the government run medicine, like it runs the DMV, do you agree that this would be more expensive and reduce services?"

or "would it bother you that governer Y has two illegitimate children with black servants?"

that type of thing.

3. It's Smearing In The Guise of Polling
Like when Bush's thugs called Republican voters and said "On a scale of 1-5, how important is it to you that that John McCain fathered an illegitimate black child?" (Of course, McCain hadn't.)

Garbage like that.

7. say i call you up
and maybe say "how would you feel if you knew that so and so was banging his mistress?" I didn't say it was true, i asked you how you would feel if you knew

now that is a way of disseminating false information or the seeds of it.

because then you will wonder if it is true, or not.

you may mention it

someone else kind of like the game of telephone.

there are lots of variations, but that is an example

or "how would you feel to know that John Edwards ate at Olive Garden and shopped at Wal Mart" :P oh, this isn't the lounge, but you get the idea eh?

:hi:

10. Push polling means conducting a poll by asking loaded questions designed to help one candidate
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 11:43 PM by Jim Sagle
or hurt another one.

An honest poll question might be, "Out of all the Democratic candidates, which one has the best approach to the Iraq war?"

A push poll question might read, "What do you think of Hillary's attempts to avoid taking a stand on the war?"

Or, "Do you think Kucinich's position on immediately pulling our troops out will make us less safe?"

Or, "What do you think of John Edwards and his $400 haircuts?"

It's an attempt to stir up feelings under the guise of asking questions.

13. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Do you approve of the way Barbara Boxer is handling her job as a US Senator?

Are you aware that Senator Boxer proposed to a box turtle, but when he declined, she turned to a human?

Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 11:49 PM by zulchzulu
Would you consider answering a push poll question, since answering such a question is usually viewed as an incredibly stupid thing to do that might also give you scavies?

Make sure you were asking this question either early in the morning or after 9PM for best effect.

South Carolina 2000 .... McCain was showing a real of beating chance
bush.

push poll ..... "How would you vote in the republican primary be if you
knew John McCain had a non-white child outside of his marriage?"

rough quote.

21. Speaking of Polls
Get this one, on Fox, and especially the results!!

"If there is an all-out war between the United States and various radical Muslim groups worldwide, who would you rather have in charge — Democrats or Republicans?"

Democrats 41%
Republicans 38%
Both the same
(not listed) 9%
Don't know
(not listed) 12%

I am surprised!

I did expect to see that the Republicans would out-poll the Democrats!

It's probably within the margin of error, but still!

What a pleasant surprise.......

Thanks!
