Edwards up to $8.7 million from over 58,000 donors |
|
He is still 300k shy of his goal of $9 million. Like Trippi said, JE does not need the most money. He just needs enough money to get his message out. Come on Edwards supporters! :bounce: https://johnedwards.com/action/contribute/ring-the-bell

Campaigns need money and movements for change need campaigns.
I did not know about that one. Which one do we make the "JE fund-raising thread" for tonight and tomorrow? I'll leave it up to you since you posted the original.

|
this evening and I think I got ONE reply!! Way to go... wish I would have seen yours! I gave as much as I could this quarter, so it's onto the next one!
I have to budget myself here, but I've never given as much money to one candidate in my entire LIFE! That's not saying I broke the bank and doled out thousands.... ain't GOT that kind of moolah... but I did what I could and have been trying to get others to donate too!
Let's get him over the TOP!!
Go, Johnny, Go!

Some people (especially a certain Edwards supporter over the past 2-3 weeks ;) ) forget during the heat of primary season that we are all Democrats and that we are all working for the same basic goals. We agree on 80-90% of issues. Sure, we must debate and discuss our differences but we also must be mindful that the real domestic "enemy" is not any Democratic candidate but the Republican agenda, as we saw this week with the backpedaling to the 1920's by the Supreme Court, the continued carnage in Iraq, and Ann Coulter's hate-mongering. :toast:

Cheers to you. :toast:

Same to you and your candidate. He is also a good man (I really respect that fact that instead of going out and making big money after graduating, like most Harvard law grads, he opted to become a community organizer) and he will surely receive a big boost after winning the 2Q round, especially given his big advantage in donors!

donated to a political campaign. I'm so glad you are paying attention. Other 17yr olds are known to spend the first paycheck on a trip to the mall. Congratulations. And great candidate choice. It is really important for young people to pay attention to a candidate who will work on job strength in America.

But I don't like people to think of my age as anything, as soon as i posted i thought "i probably shouldn't have done that". It's encouraging that my friends are starting to become interested in politics now too, so hopefully the constant news coverage of the election is getting younger people more involved.

14. Of course not, people your age should pay attention particularly with |
|
all this war talk.. and propelling itself into Iran... the draft would come back. And with college costs rising, and pay checks starting out declining, you have to pay attention. I don't think age should be a reason not to know politics or actively participate.

|
we fade away! If one were to think about just how "mad" other people in other countries are at us now, you could double or triple that anger in the next decade because of what these Idiots who have been running the country have done to America!!
I don't want to play the "fear" card, but if it doesn't stop and we don't start mending fences, my kids and grandkids will have to deal with the consequences. It's one of my main reasons for not packing it in and taking off to the beach!
As a Boomer I don't think I've ever seen anything this bad, but the apathy has made me want to quit more often than not! And along comes someone like you and it lifts my wings for another go round! Thanks again and hang in there, the ride can get pretty rough at times... I've had to break away myself just for breathers because it can really bring you down day in and day out!
I took my 11 year old granddaughter to the last March in DC last March... we had a SUPER time and she got a glimpse of activism in motion! She still talks about it.

It could be even better, I suppose, but it's nice to see that Edwards isn't getting most of his money from fat cats. I remain impressed at how back in 2003 when Trippi was running Dean's campaign he started a thread on a rival site very, very early in the process and solicited comments from members. Some candidates launch high-profile "listening tours." Others actually listen. I hope that Edwards maintains a grassroots approach. It won't make Big Business happy. But that's OK with me.

|
Edited on Sat Jun-30-07 12:03 AM by draft_mario_cuomo
The media are going to try to write him off anyway but if he falls short of his own goal that will provide them with added ammunition. There was talk of him getting outraised by Richardson. He should make it to $9 million and beat Richardson so he could get some relatively good press among the fair wing of the press.
What did he have at the start of the week? $7 million?

and I'm not a die-hard Edwards guy (I think he is good, and I would be glad to see him as the nominee).
I just want this primary season to be a real election on a level playing field, where voters can have a serious look at all the candidates. I don't want an election where the biggest fundraiser can slam the door shut, a year before the election.
Lets keep as many candidates as viable as possible, as long as possible.
