today a commander in iraq claims :
the enemy is ruthless and bloodthirsty.well gee commander thats war.wonder where he got his credentials?could not have been in nam. the v c could make a kill in the south, collect the booty and travel 50 miles north make another kill and then eat that kill, these people are not anymore vicious then those in nam.its the result of war.war should be the last resort, but then when your dealing with commanders that don`t understand why warriors act a certain way it becomes hopeless.mandatory service for everyone will hopefully eliminate wars.

1. Charlie wasn't just an insurgent, Charlie was smart
they could do more with less than any group of people I ever met, and they weren't stupid enough to commit suicide. Charlie would always live to fight another day.

2. Reminds me of a IMO surrealistic scene in Full Metal Jacket where they

were having a party in the field with the body of a North Vietnamese soldier as "the guest of honor." All of the troops made toasts to him. One was the most poignant, in that, it inferred that they'd be sad to leave Vietnam and go back to the USA because there wouldn't be anyone back there near as valuable to be "worth killing" as the North Vietnamese.

It was a eerie scene - but I think that, in a very strange way, they respected the enemy's skill. Since I haven't been in a war zone, perhaps only a few people (who have served in war) *get it.*

IMO, War brings out many odd and, at times, awful behaviors and horrible, recurrent feelings. It's not worth it. :(
