Dean is not at the JJ dinner in wisconsin. |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 09:46 PM by Bleachers7
Sheela Jackson Lee is there on his behalf. Now he has missed these 2 weeks in a row. It turns out he is at his kids hockey game. Oh well. CSPAN earlier in the day said he would be there.

1. I think I read somewhere he's attending his son's hockey game |
|
I know that doesn't answer your criticism. But that's where (I believe) he is.

5. Found it. Here's a link. |
|
http://www.madison.com/captimes/news/stories/67993.phpIn response to a question about family during an interview at the medical center, Howard Dean noted he flew home on Wednesday to see his son's high school hockey game. He added he would skip a major political dinner on Saturday to see that son's final hockey game before he graduates.

I understand why he didnt attend. I really do think though and no offense to any Dean supporters here but I really think he should have attended the Virginia Dinner.

Howard Dean's campaign scared the Republicans shitless by showing what real people could do when effectively inspired by someone who doesn't take any shit from anyone.
I wonder what it is, bleachers7, that makes you say he is not a "serious candidate," after all.
And personally, Howard Dean's campaign changed the way I will look at campaigns and elections forever. And listening to the man speak, and hearing how he proposed to give hope to this country, fixed something inside me that I didn't even know was broken.
I'm hurt and angry at what was done to him after he felt safe enough to show his exuberance in Iowa. How pathetic this country is that we must characterize things we wouldn't do or don't understand as "bad." It makes me furious. And I'm sad for the country; I feel Howard Dean has the potential to be the best president in decades, and I hope he won't give up on thoughts of a future run.

|
But Dean is not showing up in different states or at these functions. This is 2 weeks in a row. Now if it is for his kids game, I understand. I understand his commitment.

12. "Dean is not showing up" |
|
Forgive the hell outta me, then. He's not showing up where -- WHO says he should?
Are there rules for running campaigns? I would imagine Dean & his camp are doing what they find to be appropriate. I don't care much what they do as long as they don't break any laws and do all they can to get my guy to the top of the pack.
Nice of you to understand, BTW.

20. A pro-war DLC establishment candidate won't do it for me. Running a |
|
pro-war demo against a pro-war incumbent will have a great outcome...for the incumbent. We can't beat Bush by being like Bush. We can't beat republican warmongers by supporting their war and then feigning ignorance unless ignorance is the truthful answer at which point we have now a greater problem. Cheers!

:eyes: Wahh. If he was so horrible, how come Kerry copied him?
Speaking of self-control, why does Teresa Heinz feel it necessary to mention things to the press about botox injections, etc? The fact that apparently she has a strained relationship with one of her sons?
It's apparently only okay if SOME people get frank and personal, but if a candidate actually gets excited about things, then that's wrong.

25. People like you will turn off the voters that Dean turned on! |
|
Whether Dean gets the nomination or not he is the reason that the Dems can take back the white house. But if people like HalfMan continue to act arrogant and nasty many of those people will vote green again or not vote at all. Try having a little tact. Let the primaries due what they are suppose to do, let us all have our say. To dictate that we should all get behind Kerry before the whole process is complete smells like republican party lock step disease to me.

22. I can understand his son's last hockey game |
|
His job of parent is important. And the boy's last high school game is an event. I can't fault Dean on that at all.
However, this was the same reason given for him being a no-show last week in VA. Now, that I have a problem with.

24. Anyone who's followed their Son/Daugh thru HS sports will understand |
|
After four years of 6:00 AM practices, road games, last-minute skate sharpening and stumbling over "body bags" in the garage, the parents and the kids are so bound together with the hockey club that it becomes...well...a family.
When his son comes off that last line, I know that Howard and Judy will be bawling like babies. I know I will be when it happens to my son in 2 years.
