I've capitulated! & why Arizona will go Democratic
I've decided that I will support Kerry (even though I don't care for him) if he is the Democratic nominee. Four more years of * is just too scary a thought and I feel there is such a strong anti-* sentiment across the country that we can really pull this off.

I have membership in a pretty upscale gym in a very Republican part of Tucson. I rarely talk politics while I'm there because I don't want to offend any of the clients who might be Republicans or who are uncomfortable with people bashing "our" President. Oneday while I was talking to a women next to me on an exercise bike somehow the fact that I was an Edwards volunteer came-up. The lady then started cursing * out. To my shock, everyone in the gym started jumping on the bandwagon and the entire gym was filled with a chorus of * bashing. I never realized how many people * has ticked off. People are just so sick of the war, the economy, lack of health care, etc., etc. And as I mentioned this is not proletariat gym, everyone there is pretty well to do. This, along with the great voter turnout in the AZ primary leads me to believe AZ will go Democratic come November.

2. Kerry Is Great!
As his fellow Vietnam veteran who also turned strongly against that war, I've always admired and respected him. He's done a great job, especially considering that he's been the junior senator from Massachusetts in the long shadow cast by the senior senator, Edward Kennedy (who would have made a fantastic president, in my opinion). I truly hope you're right about Arizona. Our Democratic candidate need only pick up one more state to win (assuming he keeps the ones Al Gore carried). Arizona would do it, and so would Ohio or West Virginia. We can forget the south. As a native Georgian living in Mississippi, I can attest that the Bush-thing could murder children in prime time on nationwide TV and still carry every southern state.

6. I don't think * is a shoo-in in all Southern states
It will be tight, but I think Louisiana may go democratic, plus Arkansas and maybe Florida, especially if the General is the VP.

10. I Pray You Are Right
I'm SO ashamed of Georgia, lately, and (by the way) so PROUD of Louisiana. Mississippi lives up to its reputation, unfortunately. I just don't even discuss politics any more. And thanks for your optimistic response! :-)

3. Bush has indeed been a uniter
He has united people to show up in greater numbers than ever before to show his sorry ass the door in November.

4. AZ is remarkably "progressive"
When primaries were in AZ, I saw very interesting poll results (no, not referring to simplistic "voting intention" nonsense)

It's very interesting to recognize what I saw today here, in typically deep blue Northern NV, also in your story.

Would be awfully nice, if the Midwest were to slap W back to Crawford. GOP in profound leadership crisis for the next 8 years, if so.

5. I'm not sure about GOP leadership crisis.
They have a slew of "talent" looking to takeover in 2008:

Jeb Bush
Giuliani
Pataki
Romney
Frist

that's just off the top of my head.

7. you can scratch 4 of those
Jeb is out. After this crap the Bush family will be known of that of 1-term presidents, and frankly I wouldn't be suprised if they were so hated by then a Bush couldn't be elected dog catcher.

Pataki, Guiliani and Romney are all far too liberal to win a national GOP nomination. All are pro-choice, and Guiliani even said he wouldn't ban late-term abortions. not happening.

Looks like it's Frist. We can take him.

9. Strike Giuliani
As the Religios Reich will never accept him.

But as far as GOP in 2008 goes, well...
How many of you had heard of Bill Clinton in 1988?
Or Dean, Edwards, Kucinich, Clark, and Kerry in 2000?
Yes, I know some of you had... But not on large scale. The leaders of the future are out there, but not all of them are visible.

Crisis in leadership? Only on the short term; the cream will rise to the top. And so will the scum.

8. Thanks for the story
and glad you'll support Kerry. Transitions are hard (just went through it). It's time to remove the current admin.
