Others have said this, but... "Kerry IS Vietnam"
The day he won his first primary, Slate re-ran Kerry's 1971 Doonesbury appearance, from his "last man to die for a mistake" period. And I realized we were looking at something remarkable.

Kerry is the Vietnam yin and the yang together. Decorated vet turned protester. He is the embodiment of the eventual, necessary Vietnam catharsis that never happened. And it will happen NOW, during this new Vietnam in Iraq.

And Bush is caught in a "Perfect Storm" of Vietnam era AWOL revelations, Iraq death tolls, "Mission Accomplished" and Kerry's victories. It's an incredible conflagration of factors, and its our incredible good luck that it's come together all at once like this.

(In case you can't tell I'm getting excited about Kerry)

Anyway, my $0.02

2. I want to be excited about Kerry

I really do. But like so many of those activists and protestors of that period, I feel he has sold out the movement for personal gain.

I know I'm being apathetic to the guy but I don't trust him ...yet.

I won't vote for Kerry in the primary, but in the GE ABB all the way baby!!!

3. I still dont know how he could ask the last man to die for a mistake -iraq
it is like a slap in the face then fought for soliders being used in an unjust war and now he gave permission to bush to use soliders (including my father) as pawns in an unjust war

The Pubbies are going to want to hit Kerry hard for coming home and opposing the war. Problem is they're led by two guys, Bush and Cheney, who supported the Vietnam War and DIDN'T GO. Now these same two bastions of courage have hastily embarked us on a fool's errand in Iraq. All the chicken hawks are going to come home to roost.

And don't minimize Clark's potential importance in this equation. Whether he's on the ticket or not. Clark will be out there saying he too fought in Vietnam, came home wounded and stayed in the military for another 30 some-odd years. And he fully supports Kerry's antiwar activities. In Clark's oft-stated view, DISSENT DURING WARTIME IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF PATRIOTISM. He said it again just yesterday when he endorsed Kerry. Awesome.

So, as they say, bring it on, you pathetic Pubsters.
