Bush sharpens budget attack on Democrats
Sat Jul 7, 2007 10:10AM EDT

By Matt Spetalnick

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Escalating a budget battle with Democrats
who control Congress, President George W. Bush accused them on
Saturday of pushing tax-and-spend policies and renewed his veto
threat.

Though he stopped short of branding them a do-nothing Congress as
some fellow Republicans have, Bush complained that Democrats were
"behind schedule passing the individual spending bills needed to keep
the federal government running" beyond the end of the fiscal year
on September 30.

"They are working to bring back the failed tax-and-spend policies of
the past," he said in his weekly radio address. "Democrats are failing
in their responsibility to make tough decisions and spend the people's
money wisely."

With approval ratings driven down to lows of his presidency largely
by the Iraq war, Bush is trying to turn the tables on the Democratic-
led Congress. Dismal poll numbers for Congress show growing
disappointment with its performance as well.

Bush Rips Democratic Lawmakers' Failures

By JENNIFER LOVEN

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush accused Democratic lawmakers
on Saturday of being unable to live up to their duties, citing Congress'
inability to pass legislation to fund the federal government.

The main reason the immigration measure died, however, was
staunch opposition from Bush's own base - conservatives.
The
president could not turn around members of his own party despite
weeks of intense effort.

3. Typical...
They are 'behind schedule' because they spent the first two months of the term passing the 2007 budget the Republican controlled Congress failed to pass last year!

4. Who speaks for the democrats
The democrats couldn't get the end the war bill passed and semi caved to bush. But everything they have passed that will help the general public the asshole has vetoed. He has done so to make sure the democrats don't get any credit for anything so he can slam and bash. And how in the hell can he accuse the democrats of spending when the monster has ran the deficit to 8 trillion dollars. How, in the name of God, can he justify this statement. And the democrats are going to fail, if they don't get a spokesman that is not afraid to take on bush, cheney and the turd rove.

5. How can? As long as corporate media is delivered and believed..
When you are dealing with sociopaths you must understand nothing is to be believed or taken at face value. He serves corporate America and they serve him, no matter how nutty

7. Mein Gott! What planet does he live on?!?!
For six years, the Republican congress diddled, twiddled, and fiddled, and ran the deficit sky-high, with nary a peep from Commander Cuckoo-Bananas. Does he (or his speechwriter) really think that nobody has a memory past three months?!?

The hypocrisy of the man, the mind-numbing arrogance of his "the world is this way because I say it is" approach is enough to drive any sane person over the edge.

"Back to the failed policies of the past"!?! Yeah, damn those 90s! jobs, deficit reduction, international respect... WHAT were we thinking?

8. I guess you forgot that in the 80's most of the country believed Reagan every time Reagan said
"well, there they go again" every time a democrat tried to put out a fact that showed Reagan as the lying bastard he was. It still works because somehow repukes have made all of their scandals and failures into democratic scandals and failures. People are the dumbest animals on the planet.

9. I don't know that the Texan for chutzpah is, but
this probably sets the bar. 'Drunken idiot calls for temperance' couldn't be more ironic
