Rep. Dingell Floats `carbon Tax' Plan

Saturday July 7, 2007 4:16 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) - A House committee chairman is trying to
show his Democratic colleagues that people in the U.S. are
not ready to pay the full costs of fixing global warming.

Rep. John Dingell, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce
Committee, says he will propose a “carbon tax” on the burning
of fossil fuels that emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
But he says he only is offering the plan to show how unpopular
it would be.

“I sincerely doubt that the American people are willing to pay
what this is really going to cost them,” Dingell, D-Mich., said
in an interview Friday on C-SPAN's “Newsmakers,” which is to
air Sunday.

His remarks coincided with the weekend of Live Earth, a series
of concerts around the world aimed at raising awareness of
climate change. The concerts are backed by former Vice
President Al Gore, a proponent of a carbon-based tax.

1. Introduce only one part of Gore's plan.
Of course it won't work on its own.

2. Yes, Rep. Dingell, we would rather have 100 Katrinas
and pay for the ravages of a planet out of balance, yeah, we all secretly yearn for the days when we too can live in a cave
like Osama.

4. Self Important Asshole
always looking out for the interests of his good old auto maker constituency -

He'll show everyone that we are NOT ready to tackle global warming by God, see? He tried and the American people turned him down.

Those auto loving Senators from Michigan belong in the goddam museum of obsolete - they will never stop trying to protect something that has been dead for a long time.
