Similar to Hillary, a very high Rejection Rate for John McCain
Similar to the poll last week where 52% of those polled would vote against Hillary in the General Election. It seems like people must be tired of the politicians of the past.

High Rejection Rate for McCain in U.S.

Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States would shun a prospective Republican presidential candidate, according to a poll by Harris Interactive. 47 per cent of respondents would definitely or probably not vote for Arizona senator John McCain in 2008, while 29 per cent would definitely or probably do so.

In 2000, McCain won seven Republican presidential primaries in the U.S., but retired from the race after eventual nominee George W. Bush became the frontrunner.

Earlier this month, McCain campaign manager Terry Nelson announced changes to the team, saying, "We confronted reality and we dealt with it in the best way that we could so that we could move forward. (...) At one point, we thought we could raise $100 million U.S. over the course of this campaign and we constructed a campaign to fit that." McCain’s campaign has raised $24.8 million from January to June.

1. McCain's problem isn't being an politician from "the past"
He has went from once being the most popular politician in America to his current state largely because of Iraq, with immigration dealing him a knockout below among most of his remaining Republican support.

There is an automatic assumption among some that the past was horrible. 22 million new jobs, 7 million Americans lifted out of poverty, peace, etc. sound great to me. Bill Clinton was not perfect. He was a true DLCer. However, the fact is the Clinton administration was the most progressive administration in decades.

2. that's why I don't want Hillary nominated

While it's true that many in our party adore her - I suspect that just as many abhor her. Hillary's nomination would take all the wind out of the sails of Democratic activists.

3. And add Obama to that.
I saw an article that said support for him is falling twice as fast as McCain. I hope Edwards surges forward. He would be the best person for president.

I suppose Obama was only a novelty and now that it has worn off support is going flat. Sure looks like it.

4. Another difference is McCain does not have the poll numbers that Hillary has.
Come to think of it no one does.
