1. Hagel is the new McCain
It is all calculated, and when the chips are down, he ALWAYS votes with the Repukes.

Remember all of this 'independence' is really him pandering for an outsider bid for 08, fishing to fill the role of the Repuke maverick that McCain so badly mishandled.

Hagel is a McCain or a Specter. Blowhard 'independent' streak who always hops back in line when the chips are down. Public seems to fall for this shit every time.

2. Perfectly stated.
How ironic that the Senator who has voted the most with Bush, in a Senate where all the RW'ers were Bush's lackeys all the time, is now portrayed as a tough talking independent.

4. Always votes with Repubs? No--
He sometimes votes with Dems--he voted for the Iraq funding bill with (nonbinding) timelines, he voted for Medicare drug price negotiation, he voted for Gonzo's no-confidence measure, and he voted to release intelligence documents. So there is some good to the man, but then he balances it out with nutty stuff like voting no on federal minimum wage, and voting against Senate confirmation of US attorneys. He's a bit a wild card--hard to figure him out, but I give him credit for being more willing than other GOPers to take on his party.

3. Yes! I was quite impressed with Hagel. I wouldn't vote for him,
but it's nice to hear a Republican tell the truth about the war.

5. Hagel is pleasantly tall
After that, I can't say much else good about him.
