If Cheney's impeachment and removal looks to become a reality

Will he go quietly or try and take someone - or everyone - down with him ?

Will he try and blackmail the Whitehouse to fight it ?

1. He'll Deny It Is Happening And Insist That He Is Immune
In fact, he will probably act exactly like Saddam did.

3. He'll hire Baghdad Bob to get on Fox and deny that the U.S. has
any troops inside America and that rumors of his impending impeachment are greatly exaggerated.

4. He will barricade himself in the OVP
with his shotgun in one hand and a bottle of Jim Beam in the other. He may take Addington along as a hostage or a drinking buddy... my vision is not clear which.

As John Stossel, Katie Couric and others come to interview him through the door, he will pass out of this existence in a puff of smoke - some will call it spontaneous combustion. No one will ever believe that such a one as this ever strode the earth.

That's my prediction. It won't be pretty.

5. God Forbid, Cheney will have his al-Qaeda buddies do a Nuclear 9/11
Panic. Chaos. Tens of thousands dead. Martial law. Executive Order 51 goes into effect.

Shadow Government takes over. Cheney's trial nullifed by Amerika's Decider.

Perhaps that is why they fear to do anything substantial to these criminals. Because the Dems know the Busheviks would do anything to the filthy little peasant, we who they do not even condsider to be human.

6. Turn on the person
who could pardon him?

Seems unlikely to me, even disregarding the de-facto code of silence. But that's not to say he'll go easily.

My guess is that plan was for ol' deadwood dick to retire before the end of this term, so that a heir apparent could be appointed.

And my guess is that this could still happen, although under different circumstances than originally envisioned.

...

(I've browsed, googled (site specific), joined and browsed again. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious; but I need a hint. You know, like ten paces north from the big oak tree.)

7. I said this yesterday in another thread, but I believe he'll pull a "Ken Lay" and "die"
from a "heart attack" suddenly. After a decent period of "mourning" Lynne Cheney will join him at yet another "undisclosed location" where they will sit in the sun and spend his filthy billions.

8. If it looks like Cheney will be impeached....
Simple....he resigns....is replaced with someone just as bad. If it's early enough, he could then run in 08 as an incumbent and enjoy lots of free press.

10. They are going to have to..
... do some kind of search to find someone who is "just as bad" :)

Offhand, I can't think of anyone.

15. ok...how about fred thompson?
Not only is he pretty much a ding bat, but giving him the VP would help his campaign to be Pres immensely.

So...what is worse....having another year and a few months of Cheney as vp....or 8 years of Thompson? The guy is also a neanderthal.

What seems to be lost on you is that if Cheney is toast, he will resign before he will be impeached. Even Nixon did that. And then where will we be?

12. Will be more difficult for Bush to fill the position if Congress has any balls
When Cheney is impeached or he dies Congress should immediately start impeachment proceedings for him. Congress will then be too busy to approve any replacement. Hopefully, if Congress does it right then Pelosi becomes President even if she doesn't want to be.

She probably won't be able to fire all of the cabinet but she can tell them to resign. She can as President start recalling the troops. She can rescind Bush's executive orders especially the one that froze the release of Presidential papers. Personally, I would put the heat on the Labor Secretary to resign along with her staff. I would also hit the NLRB counsel and chair to resign.

16. In your scenario, I doubt the congress would be so short-sighted
as to not fight on the potential successor even harder before they do the impeachment of Bush. What we would see is an even more drawn out impeachment battle.

I think if I were a republican I would be scared to death of 08. What I would do is spread the word to the Democrats that they should impeach Bush. They would fight among themselves, a plus for the Reps. Then, if they did not impeach a lot of Dems would splinter off, and thus help the Reps. If they did impeach, chances are better for a backlash against the Dems from impeachment than the chances for anything else the Reps can do. So, what do the Reps have to lose? Nothing! Bush is gone anyway. ALL the Reps are going to run against Bush in 08. Perhaps the only chance the Reps have for 08 is a backlash against impeachment! It sure looked like a sure thing before.....

18. Nobody knows what Cheney does, especially *. He has no paper trail.
When he leaves office there will not be one document to put in the official records. There are rumors that nobody on * staff even know where his office is. He has setup a separate secure phone system, secure bunkers around the country. Truly a rogue branch of secret government.

Can anyone here honestly name one thing that Cheney has done and prove it?

Aside from being an evil puppet master, what would he be charged with? He is truly the first ghost official.
