Did you know that right wing radio had nothing to do with the failure of the immigration bill? |
|
Absolutely nothing. According to that brilliant conservative scholar and all about Fellow of every right wing think tank east or west of the Misssippi, Uncle Tom Sowell: "Now the elites tell us (I guess he's talking about us) that (anti-immigration bill) protests were generated by conservative talk radio programs, and there are implications (egad, implications!) that this was due to xenophobia, if not racism. Anyone who actually listens to conservative talk radio or reads those who opposed the immigration bill will know what a crock that is. Elitists (us?) should at least come up with some new smears, instead of repeating the same old tired ones."
So there ya have it. According to Uncle Tom, right wing radio has no reason to exist, because they have absolutely no effect on anyone.

1. "xenophobia, not racism" |
|
What else could it be? They wanted to take down a bill that would have built a wall and made life extremely difficult for illegal immigrants. Now they have nothing.
Anything, but sending all 'Mexicans' back home, will always be criticized by the racist right.

American born (the native peoples excepted) have never done the drudge work in this country. From the very beginning, outsiders have been brought in to do it, and the power elite has fostered a divisive resentment between the two groups in order to control both.

6. Are you ready to do it? |

It's 98 in the shade, and there isn't any shade, and if someone doesn't pick em they'll rot in the fields so in a fit of desperate extravagence the growers offer $6.25/hr for pickers! You gonna do it?

7. Increase the wages and I may. |
|
That's why growers use illegal immigrants, to keep wages down to BS levels.

8. $6.25/hr IS an increase. |
|
Eliminate the "illegals" and see how many people you'll get at even that inflated wage.
Don't get me wrong - I am not advocating for slave wages. But the argument that "Americans want the jobs that the illegals have" is bullshit - because nobody wants the jobs the illegals have. Not even the illegals. Thing is, BECAUSE they are undocumented they can be pressured into taking those wages and those living conditions.

3. Always wondered how that would work |
|
Sending 12 million back, that is. Probably have to get the GM plants in Mexico cranked up to make more busses and then we'd need drivers but we wouldn't want to pay them TOO much. Hmmm.. where could we get a ready supply of cheap labor?
