Fox Radio News - They really are comedians
Listening to the fox news station out of New Orleans this morning and heard one of their commercials - "fox news, fair and balanced, REAL JOURNALISM."

The burning issues this morning, we got to get rid of them damned immigrants who are stealing our jobs. And the ACLU was getting beat up for wanting to take a picture of Jesus out of the courthouse in Slidell. According to one caller, there's a lot of ignorant people in this country who should start studying the constitution cause the ACLU ain't nothing but communists - by gawd.

1. I don't think we've plumbed the lowest levels of dumb yet Boss
I'm waiting to see when some cornfed yahoo starts calling for putting environmentalists in jail because they are communists trying to undermine the constitution. :eyes:

"Dag nab it! If we want to throw shit-filled huggies out of our car windows on the way to Nascar -- it's our God-given right!"

2. We live in South Mississippi
and the trash on the sides of the roads in towns and out on the highways is atrocious. Ignorance and lack of self respect, a dangerous combination. We live in a relatively high priced neighborhood for this part of the state and there's McDonald's bags and beer cans chucked here and there. I take a walk a couple of mornings a week, take a plastic bag with me and fill it up in no time. Yeah, I gotta love people defending their rights.

3. we live in a wealthy suburb of Atlanta
and the trash around our streets and highways is getting mighty deep too. Of course, the roads leading to the private golf courses and gated communities are always picked up. But those *other* areas? "Why should OUR tax money pay to keep the roads clean for the great unwashed"?

Of course, those "sow's ears" parading around in their gated communities are only "silk purses" in their own tiny little minds. Putting bling on trash does nothing to get rid of the smell.

4. I was stationed at NAS Atlanta
in the early 90's. Had a very enjoyable stay, but spent most of my time on base. I recall a wonderful little restaurant "Vittles" somewhere close to the base.

5. I posted something about Jesus in Slidell yesterday
The mayor called the ACLU "The American Taliban". No one seemed to care. One person replied that my post was a stretch...:wtf:

6. Hello Muffin1
and thanks for your input. We used to live in Slidell and I must say I really do like the Mayor (Ben Morris.) I've had beers with him. He is a big beer drinker, is term limited, and is contemplating running for congress. I am a card carrying member of the ACLU and a card carrying member of the military retiree community. There is nothing Talibanesque about placing the constitution above anyone's religious books. Assuming we still live in the land of the free.

7. Whew!
I was feeling like I was out on a limb by myself. I'm sure Mr.Morris is a fine individual. The article I read also mentioned his ongoing fight with FEMA for help for his community.
But, like you, I am sick of having Jesus (or ANY religious figure)shoved in my face, especially in government buildings. Indeed, we still do have separation of church and state, in theory, and I think we have to fight these infractions, whenever they arise.:)

(Still arguing with my father over PRAYER IN SCHOOL-I'm 46, BTW)
