How popular is Gephardt in Missouri?
I think this is going to be the most important question when Kerry chooses his VP. Gore lost Missouri by 3%. Can Gephardt give Kerry 3% so he can win Missouri?

Because if Kerry holds all the Gore states and only wins back Missouri, he wins.

1. If Geb is a plus in Missouri he is a minus in more states also
we have to watch California Arnold was not placed in power for nothing there will be some type of BS there and if it's close in California then the candidate won't have the money to use elsewhere.
I expect a Florida type thing in California this year.

3. Hard to say
Missouri voters are very hard to figure out. You just never know what they will do. So I wouldn't pick a VP based on thinking you can guarantee any kind of result in Missouri. That's my view from the other side of the state line. :hi:

4. I live in St Louis...and while he appears popular with the Democratic
machine politics of the City of St Louis, I don't think his popularity has "legs" in other parts of Missouri, especially the rural areas away from the St Louis area. Personally I don't like Gephardt because he comes across as one who will say and do anything to win. He started out as an anti busing, pro life, conservative Democrat but when he wanted a larger role in national politics flipped flopped (as an ad a couple of elections ago demonstrated) on almost every issue. When I think of Gephardt I think of a politician who checks the polls to see where he should stand on a particular issue on any given day.

He also supported Bush's war of aggression on Iraq.

While I am ABB, I think Gephardt would hurt Mr Kerry more than he would help that's for sure.
