If we leave Iraq, Civil War will break out and chaos will ensue
The latest talking point coming from senior military officers in Iraq. Is that incredibly pathetic?

1. Anybody care to point out that they're already in a civil war?
Anybody?

*crickets chirping*
*tumbleweed rolls by*

Okay, Keith Olbermann probably will say something, and maybe Jon Stewart, but that's it.

5. It really is hard to imagine Civil War in Iraq
since brilliant conservative philosopher and military war expert and strategist bill krystol said in 03 that is was just pop psychology that Sunni and Shia didn't like each other.

2. As opposed to what is going on there now?
It's already a total clusterfuck-so how exactly do they define chaos?

3. Ummmm, so now it isn't yet a Civil War???
I thought it WAS a Civil War last week and the week before. I'm convinced that the bush enablers don't know their ass from their elbows.

6. Civil War Is Already Under Way, Sir
Its pace will doubtless quicken with our departure, but that is of no moment: withdrawl as soon as it can be contrived, preferably yesterday, is in the best interests of the United States, and that is what should guide our national policy.

8. It is already chaos.
WTF? What frickin' planet do these morons live on? 200 dead in bombings almost every day, people being abducted, dozens found mutilated, with their heads choped off? Get worse? HOW?????

9. The problem with this argument...
They have been saying some form of this talking point for some time now, and those that oppose the war (most anyway) are not going to fall for this argument. As for those dwindling supporters, I would expect a sizable portion of them would be thrilled to see innocent Iraqis die in a civil war. There simply are not supporters left in the "humanitarian" or "democracy spreading" crowd, its just the blow everything up crowd left.

10. Ironic is it not?
I agree, the trash who support bush don't care about the daily slaughter of innocent Iraqis (non-white and non-christian, double whammy) but they are the same ones who insisted Iraqis would be better off without Hussein.

11. Almost true. When we leave Iraq the civil war will continue and
intensify and there will be chaos. We, as a country, have to face that reality. Leaving Iraq is not going to be pretty.

12. Boykin should read Luke 9 : 5 , most evangelicals "get it"
The time for our troops to shake the dust from their boots passed long ago.

13. It is probably true. What the HELL do they call the war and chaos..........
our troops are currently engaged in? bushco was told BEFORE they decided to start the 'war' in Iraq this would happen, but the SOBs did it anyway. bushco and ALL of their incompetents should be removed from office immediately; NONE of them are fit to serve.

16. "Civil War will break out and chaos will ensue"
What is the matter with all of you? This is cause for serious concern.

What will become of the slow-paced county fairs and bake sales that are
now the dominant features of everyday life in Iraq?

17. As usual, it is easy to leave out anything that is not "all or nothing".
There are more than two choices. "Fully engaged military" and "everybody leave now" are only the two extremes. I think that most observers agree that Iraq will not be made whole through a military solution. There will have to be some political efforts which aren't being done right now. It's possible that we CAN help the Iraqis with some of the problems they will face, short of a military occupation.

18. It can't "break out", it is already there
How can our soldiers, who do not even speak the language, stand between 2 waring factions in a civil war. What can they do?
