4. Barbara Boxer ROCKS! She should be our first female Prez... |
|
I flew to DC for the day in January 2005 when she was the only Senator willing to contest the Ohio election. She is one gutsy woman and I love her!

2. Is not MR Pelosi a defense contractor? |
|
While I am all for impeaching and sending Bush and Cheney to the Hague for War Crimes . . .
Don't you think that Nancy Pelosi should be getting the smackdown for blocking and obstructing this for so long?

"The Pelosi family has a net worth of over US$25 million, primarily from Paul Pelosi's investments. In addition to their large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, he also has millions of dollars in stock from publicly traded companies such as Microsoft, Amazon.com and AT&T. In 2003, the Pelosi family sold their eight-acre (three hectare) Rutherford vineyard. Pelosi continues to be among the richest members of Congress."
She's probably in quite a tug of war between her own best interests as a member of the ultra-rich and the San Francisco Voters... But then, I knew that...
------
"However, among Pelosi's Democratic colleagues, she is considered to be far less liberal than portrayed. Her longtime friend, Jim McDermott of Washington, told Newsweek that he and other left-leaning Democratic congressmen sometimes wish that "she would tilt a little more our way from time to time." During the 2006 campaign, corporate consultants suggested that the Democrats portray themselves as a party that governed for all. As Speaker, Pelosi has tried to focus more on economic than social issues.
In San Francisco, Pelosi is sometimes seen as being a moderate or even a conservative (by San Francisco standards) rather than a liberal, which has led to some conflicts with her constituents. Nonetheless, she has never faced a serious challenger in the Democratic primary, which is the real contest in this overwhelmingly Democratic district."
but even in San Francisco, MONEY rules the electoral process...buys media...and she's a money raising machine...thus the Speakership...

19. Well that is why our political system sucks |
|
It is in fact horrible that all of our political leaders are so rich. It puts them so far out of touch with the rest of us that they might as well be on another planet. Pelosi is not alone (At least she doesn't shoot friends in the face, unlike some other rich politicians...). I wonder though if she could have gotten as far as she had if she didn't have money, I'll bet her money is the only way she was allowed anywhere near the circle of old white men who are the movers and shakers in Washington with power to hand out. And this is why both money and old boy's clubs should be removed from politics post hast.

8. IMO it certainly should be on the table, Pelosi was wrong to say "Off the table" |
|
"It is unlikely" or "We don't have plans to impeach at this time" would have been sufficient.
