I'm guessing some people would like to know who is supporting who.

3. I think it's significant because Sir Charles has thrown his weight behind Republicans in the past. |
|
He's a sharp, outspoken guy, so his word does carry some weight to it.

"Republicans buy shoes too"--Michael Jordan on why he does not endorse Democrats. Perhaps MJ has changed his position now that he is retired.

Why come into a thread that you obviously care nothing about and then post like this? I don't understand it. I mean I'm fairly new here, but if you don't care about the endorsement, why bother even checking the thread out and then taking the time to reply? It isn't as if I was misleading my headline, so I didn't sucker you into the thread.

I just wanted to know why you took the time to come into a thread you clearly don't care about, then take even more time to make a sarcastic post knowing full well it'll piss off some of his supporters. If you don't like Sir Charles or Obama, fine, but why post in a thread about them? I guess I just don't get it.

I am sorry but if my one little comment is going to piss off his supporters then I recommend they get a thicker skin.

I just wanted to know why you felt the need to make that type of comment. I mean I'm fine with you not caring about this endorsement, but I'm guessing some DUers do and I was posting it for their sake.

42. Unfortunately, that's pretty common. |
|
It's one thing to post in order to disagree with an issue being discussed. But it always seems odd to me that someone would take the time to post some variety of "I don't care about this topic." Uh, clearly you cared enough to hit the post button. If you didn't care you'd move along without comment or even without reading. Like I do when I come across a thread about Nascar or baseball.
Anyway, I think you just have to get used to it. Some folks just like to make negative comments.

When asked if he was a Republican or a Democrat (a question some people always feel necessary to ask a well-spoken, conservatively dressed African-American male; not that it's racist or anything), he responded along the lines of, "I asked my grandmother about that and she said that Republicans are for the wealthy, while Democrats take care of poor people, so I told her, 'well, then we must be Republicans now cause we're rich!'"
To the average individual that is a fairly obvious joke. Not only a joke, but one that slightly makes fun of Republicans. But to political junkies, a group that loves to parse words thereby eliminating any possibility of their ever catching a joke, that incident meant Sir Charles was a Republican.
He has been asked about it a hundred times since then and keeps repeating that (1) it was a joke and (2) he is and always has been a Democrat.

Can post up and lead a break, keep him off the golf course though.
Seriously, being a Phx Suns fan he got a bit annoying his second year but for the past five years he has become a better and better commentator and sometimes he can be extremely funny. One of the first and only sports guys to go off on bush. During a TNT broadcast one night he kept comparing bad players and teams to bush. The other guys wouldn't touch his comments and when they went to break he looked at them as said something to the effect of that guy is the worst ever and ruining the country.

at least with regards to his basketball commentary during the play-offs. And I was kinda surprised about his liberal-sounding comments on issues like gay marriage. He has been pretty critical of Bush and republicans in general over the last few years.
Anyways, this is a good catch for Obama. Barkely endorsed Edwards last time.

40. More Evidence (IMHO) That Obama Would Run Strong in The South |
|
He'll bring out more black voters, and people who wouldn't vote Obama because of race are unlikely to vote for any Dem. Based on the anecdotals I'm thinking Obama could do just as well in the South as Edwards.
So is Barkley still planning to run for governor of Alabama after Riley is done?
