Can California do better than Darrell Issa (R)?

Representative Darrell Issa, a California Republican, told Wilson that Plame should be seeking a pardon for lying when she testified earlier this year before Congress about her unmasking.

``This hearing today is not about clemency,'' Issa said. ``It's clearly, quite frankly, about whether we can get some more mileage out of the disclosure of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent.''

Wilson, who tensed at the witness table and shook his head angrily, denied that Plame committed perjury and called Issa's comments ``a further smear on my wife's good name.''

Issa left the room in the middle of Wilson's response, returning later to say he stood by the assertion.

1. California can
But this isn't about California as a whole. Remember, this is the same state who brought us Bob Dornan and Dana Rohrbacher. It's all about what district he comes from. I'd have to assume that he's probably in a safe seat.

My favorite Issa moment was when he cried after dropping out of the Gubernatorial recall. Californians might have disliked Davis, but they didn't care much for ol' Darrell either.

7. Yep, it's safe. Bush got 63% there in 2004.
which is also about the same amount Issa has received in 2004 and 2006.

3. GalEEEforrrrneeeeyans!!!!! Remember who funded that recall that brought you Ahnuld?
Why, Darryl did!!!

The one thing that made me laugh like hell was seeing him break down, sobbing, when Ahnuld entered the race. He actually thought since he paid for Davis's recall, he'd also paid for the GOP slot on the ticket!

4. California defeated Pombo, California will defeat Issa. Pombo losing was my favorite
part on the 2006 elections. Now up in district 3 we need to be rid of Lundgren and up in my attic in district 4---Doolittle!

8. Ahh, yes. That was sweet.
Still, my favorite was seeing Rick the Prick Santorum get hosed; well, Webb taking down Allen was a good 'un, too.

Still and all, Pombo was truly a POS and it was sweet to see the back of him.

11. Pombo getting his ass handed him to him was just surreal, i was watching local
election coverage and while i don't live in that district i am familiar with it and it's pretty solidly red so i hoped but didn't really expect he would lose so when the final was in and our trusty non threatening vanilla news guy reported his defeat with a look of surprise on his face i was was yelling, my daughter thought the house was on fire!

5. Vista, CA
Repug stronghold. We can hope, but CA is so Gerrymandered that it would take a miracle (like the defeat of Pombo) for Issa to go down.

But miracles do happen.

6. Our business partner ran against him last election cycle.
See www.bringtheirbuddieshome.com .

Unfortunately, he allegedly represents me. We did try very hard to make sure he wasn't re-elected. He has this weird district that includes Vista, Temecula, and even Murrieta, Ca.

I've read his voting record the past several years; he always votes the way Karl would want him to.

12. We haven't gotten anyone yet to run against him.
We're working on it, but, people will say one thing, and then vote straight along party lines in November.
