Quinnipiac Ohio: Hillary pulls into large lead....does best against Repubs...
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 08:45 AM by SaveElmer
Hillary 35
Obama 17
Edwards 13
Gore 12

Clinton tops Rudolph Guiliani 44 - 42 percent;
Clinton tops Arizona Sen. John McCain 45 - 41 percent;
Clinton beats Thompson 47 - 38 percent;
Giuliani gets 42 percent to 41 percent for Obama;
Giuliani edges former Vice President Al Gore 44 - 41 percent;
Obama beats McCain 43 - 38 percent;
Obama tops Thompson 44 - 34 percent;
Gore gets 43 percent to McCain's 42 percent;
Gore beats Thompson 45 - 38 percent.

Also, a Bloomberg entry into the race benefits Democrats by quite a bit

1. the more people see her, the more the like her
This may sound like an old cliche, but at least for now, the only person who can beat Hillary is Hillary.

13. Hasn't worked for me
And if she really had charisma she would be leading by 50% by now. People are only seeing soundbites of her and what the corporate controlled media want people to see of her. The corporate robber barons will back Hillary because she is Repuke-lite and they can manipulate her like they do Republicans.

15. You may be right, but if you are, any candidate that can't manage
their media will lose, right? I just don't get this constant complaining about the media. It is what it is. It's almost certainly too late to change anything at this point, and any candidate worth a $50 contribution knew the deal when they threw their hat in. If you or anybody else wants to change the way the media works, then there are surely better avenues to pursue than complaining about it in
every thread here that contains a poll result.

Manage media interests = success

Ignore media interests = lose

17. they didn't poll with Edwards?
ya know, this is ridiculous... he's polling double digits and less than 5 behind Obama, but not only that, he has large mainstream support from unions, southern, and many who are poor look up to him.

11. Had the strangest notion of John McCain in a debate format against
our nominee and Michael Bloomberg.

In this scenario I have Bloomberg crushing McCain's points, one by one, almost effortlessly, and McCain collapsing in despair onto the stage floor.

The audience is stunned and hushed, and finally a couple of paramedics come out with various gear and scrape McCain off the floor and onto a stretcher. They carry him out to the waiting vehicle, slide him in and drive off.

No one ever hears from him again.

20. I've been critical of Hillary
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 07:10 PM by fujiyama
but I'll give her credit.

She's one hell of a politician.

I won't vote for her in the primaries. And I still think she'll have a tougher time in the general election than many other candidates. I also don't like her view on several issues.

But the last thing I want is to see McCain, Giuliani, or Thompson be president. The polls showing her improving in head-to-head matchups is good news regardless (and Hillary is like my fourth or fifth choice). It's nice to see two heroes (as declared by the media - well one did show courage at one point), and a "dumb as hell" actor get beat by Hillary in a poll.

21. Now let's include the 2.6 margin of error
Clinton vs Guiliani: tie;
Clinton vs McCain: tie;
Clinton vs Thompson: Clinton;

Obama vs Giuliani: tie;
Obama vs McCain: Obama;
Obama vs Thompson: Obama;

Gore vs Giuliani: tie;
Gore vs McCain: tie;
Gore vs Thompson: Gore;

So, everyone ties with Rudy, everyone beats Thompson and only Obama beats McCain. Not so much of a win for Hill...

And they didn't poll Edwards, AND...the primaries are WHEN?

Not bad for a candidate some are claiming is now a "second-tier" candidate. :bounce:

I think Edwards, Obama, and Richardson are in a playoff to determine who will face HRC in the championship round.

24. Context: previous Ohio polls from Quinnipiac
The general trend is that HRC and JE have held steady while Obama gradually fell from 22% (the first number for him after he began running) to 12%. However, he has recovered half of that loss in the latest poll.

Jan 23-28, 2007

Hillary Clinton 38%
Barack Obama 13%
John Edwards 11%

Mar 13-19, 2007

Hillary Clinton 32%
Barack Obama 22%
John Edwards 11%

May 8-13, 2007

Hillary Clinton 38%
Barack Obama 19%
John Edwards 11%

June 18-25, 2007

Hillary Clinton 40%
Barack Obama 12%
John Edwards 12%
