Report: Al-Qaida nears ability to strike U.S. — Draft intelligence assessment says group seeks chemical, nuclear weapons

Gee, I though were were "safe."

I've got a gut feeling that the people who ignored the PDB titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." and who lost interest in hunting him might be either:

a) Under-preparing for a real threat
b) Making up a phony threat

If they want us to be scared, they're doing a heckuva job. Stretching our military and National Guard to the breaking point for a failed war of whim that's a rallying call for anti-American terrorism does seem a tad worrisome.

As for handling a real threat, maybe Dick Cheney will set up another anti-terrorism task force that never meets. Look, these guys (plus Giuliani) saved the Twin Towers, so what could go wrong?

Hey, the liberal light is always on at the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy. Please stop by and say "hi!"
